Wynonna Earp has been delivering powerhouse episodes all season and that trend carries right on through this hour. There is a lot of tension surging throughout the team which doesn’t exactly make it easy for everyone to work together. Which is why, for most of the episode, they are all split apart into some intriguing pairings. No matter how unexpected the team is they are all teamed up for a reason in the story. Each pairing serves to provide every character with some terrific moments of character growth. They all make mistakes and say things that they live to regret before the episode ends, but they are all things that need to be said in order to help the characters along in their individual journeys. Lies, betrayals, big revelations and a fairly large dose of creepy fuel the episode.
As is the norm in the Wynonna Earp universe things aren’t easy for anyone. Every time they seem to have something figured out another new obstacle is tossed at them. And sometimes they are the ones who place the obstacles smack dab in the middle of their own paths. That’s pretty much how things go down in this episode. In the process of dealing with their own issues some of them will take one step forward and two back. There’s a push and pull throughout and what happens in at least one of the pairings will surprise many. Including at least one big and very unexpected reveal that shocks another character to the core. But it is a crucially critical moment as it teaches one character a very important lesson.
This episode plays heavy into the overall arc of the season, but it’s very much so a setup episode. There are a lot of things left hanging as it fades to black. The ending, in particular, is very foreboding and will have everyone counting the hours, minutes, and seconds until the next episode. It ends on what can only be described as a “holy shit” moment which is appropriate given that this whole episode is full of those sorts of moments. The title of this preview is an actual quote from the episode and quite frankly it's good advice to keep in mind while watching. This hour highlights all the things that make Wynonna Earp a spectacular show and this is yet another can’t miss episode.
Don’t miss this episode when it airs this Friday, August 4th at 10/9c on SyFy.
