03:45 - CBS All Access - Launching In Australia In 2018

CBS US - Purchasing Channel 10 Australia Including Rights To Back Catalogue Of Titles

Ten Network's receivers, managers and voluntary administrators have confirmed that CBS has entered into a binding agreement to buy the broadcaster's business and assets.

The winning bid from CBS comes after the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) said it would not oppose a joint bid by media magnates Lachlan Murdoch and Bruce Gordon to buy Ten.

CBS will also launch video on-demand service in Australia

20:25 - Fleabag - Season 2 - Returns in 2019

Fleabag will return to BBC Three for a second series in 2019, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has confirmed.

Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival, she said she was "beyond thrilled to be coming back".

"I asked myself if Fleabag has more to say and frankly she hasn't shut up since. Series two will be a whole new adventure," she said.

The actress was speaking to Shane Allen, the BBC controller of comedy, who called the show a "modern classic".

"Fleabag signalled the arrival of a hugely distinctive writer with the mesmerising performing talent to match," he said.

"Phoebe's career has shot up like a firework display in the last year and the show has been rightly hailed as a modern classic.

"It'll be thrilling to see where she takes the character in the next series."

The first series was adapted from Waller-Bridge's award-winning play and no details have been given about what's in store for the second series.

The dark comedy won numerous awards for Waller-Bridge including a Bafta and two Royal Television Society Awards.

The cabler has opted not to move forward with the John Wells-produced, Detroit-set mystery drama, which was to co-star Game Of Thrones alum Tom Wlaschiha and Jacki Weaver (Blunt Talk, Gracepoint), TVLine has learned exclusively. A pilot was ordered last December but it never went into production.

Now veteran actress Amanda Tapping (Stargate, Sanctuary) is slated to bring her directorial vision to Supernatural. It is a “welcome home” to Tapping as well: In Season 8, she delighted viewers as holy terror Naomi, an angel who controlled Castiel’s mind with her own brand of persuasion. Later, Naomi met her demise at the hands of Scribe of God Metatron (Curtis Armstrong).

The actress — who’s been spending just as much time behind the camera — has been tapped to helm an episode of NBC’s hit family drama “This Is Us.” She’s prepping episode 206 now, which begins shooting next week. The second season of “This Is Us” returns on Sept. 26.

We’re about to learn more about the background of the titular lead character of Fox’s Star. EW can reveal exclusively that Stephen Dorff (Wheeler) is joining the drama as the father of Star Davis (Jude Demorest).

Dorff will play the edgy Bobby Dean, who’s basically the male version of his daughter. Bobby Dean has tons of swagger and returns to Atlanta to reunite with his family.

Your Honor - Drama Based on Israeli Series from The Good Wife Creators & Peter Moffat in Development

CBS TV Studios is developing a drama series based on the hot Israeli drama format Your Honor (KVODO). The U.S. adaptation, eyed for premium cable and streaming networks, will be shepherded by the creators of two acclaimed legal drama series, Peter Moffat, whose BAFTA-winning Criminal Justice was the basis for HBO’s praised limited series The Night Of, and The Good Wife‘s Robert and Michelle King.

In Your Honor, written by British TV writer/playwright Moffat, when a respected judge’s son is involved in a hit and run, they are both drawn into a high stakes game of lies, deceit and impossible choices when it comes to light that the victim was the son of a notorious crime boss.

21:00 - MOVIES: Glass - Synopsis & Release Date

M. Shyamalan is intending on merging the worlds of Split and Unbreakable into one unanimous sequal titled Glass. Setting the wheels in quick motion. The sequel is in pre-production with a synopsis release check it out here.

“Following the conclusion of SPLIT, GLASS finds David Dunn pursuing Kevin Wendell Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Elijah Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.”

Samuel L. Jackson will return as Unbreakables main villian Elijah Price A.KA. Mr. Glass as well as Bruce Willis returning to the role of the hero, David Dunn.

Split cast members Anya Taylor-Joy and James McAvoy will of course return as well as the beast. Sarah Paulson of American Horror Story fame will be the majority of the main cast.

Shooting is set to begin in October ahead of schedule with A January 18, 2019 release window.



19:30 - Maniac - Sonoya Mizuno Joins Cast as Series Regular; Julia Garner to Recur in Netflix Series

Sonoya Mizuno is set as a series regular and Julia Garner will recur opposite Emma Stone and Jonah Hill in the high-profile 10-episode Netflix series Maniac. Character details for both are being kept under wraps.

Filming recently began on the Paramount TV/Anonymous Content dark comedy in New York City, with Cary Fukunaga set to direct all episodes. Maniac, written by Patrick Somerville based on the 2014 Norwegian series, revolves around the fantasy worlds of Hill and Stone’s characters.

19:00 - A Discovery of Witches - Matthew Goode & Teresa Palmer to Star in TV Adaptation for Sky

A Discovery of Witches, based on the best-selling All Souls Trilogy from Deborah Harkness, has found its Matthew and Diana.

British actor Matthew Goode, known best for his roles in period pieces like The Imitation Game and an arc on Downton Abbey, and Australian actress Teresa Palmer (Hacksaw Ridge), will headline the upcoming series from Bad Wolf Television and Sky Original Productions.

Harkness will also executive produce, and Kate Brooke (Mr. Selfridge, The Forsyte Saga) will head up the writing team and act as showrunner.

British television giant Sky will air the series in the U.K., and a U.S. network will be announced in the coming weeks. The series is slated to begin shooting its first season on location in Great Britain this fall.

A Discovery of Witches follows Diana Bishop, a science historian who also just happens to be a witch with a troubling past that has led her to suppress her magical tendencies. When her research leads her to uncover a mysterious missing manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library, she sets in motion a series of events that will lead her on an adventure across time and continents to discover the secrets of her past and the truth about the origin of magical beings (which includes witches, vampires, and daemons). Along the way, Diana also encounters and falls in love with Matthew Clairmont, a scientist and vampire with a murky past of his own.

Juan Carlos Medina (The Limehouse Golem) will direct the series’ pilot episode.





17:55 - Ballers - Season 4 - Brittany S. Hall Promoted to Series Regular

Brittany S. Hall, who recurred in Season 3 of HBO comedy series Ballers, has been promoted to series regular for Season 4. Hall plays Amber, a sassy girl from the Miami party scene who had a past with Ricky (John David Washington).

Created by Stephen Levinson (Boardwalk Empire), Dwayne Johnson-starring Ballers looks at the whirlwind lifestyles and real-life problems of former and current football players. Johnson plays ex-superstar Spencer Strasmore, who has reinvented himself as a financial manager for today’s players in sun-soaked Miami.

MOVIES: The Equalizer 2 - Pedro Pascal in Negotiations to Join Cast

Pedro Pascal is in negotiations to play the antagonist in Sony and Escape Artists’ “The Equalizer 2” starring Denzel Washington.

Antoine Fuqua is returning to direct. Todd Black is producing.

Plot details are currently scarce, other than that Washington will reprise his role as Robert McCall, a former special ops agent who now helps those who can’t defend themselves. Details on Pascal’s character are unknown.

00:50 - Escape at Dannemora - Jeremy Bobb to Recur in Showtime's Limited Prison Series

The Knick alum Jeremy Bobb has been tapped for a recurring role in Showtime’s limited series Escape At Dannemora, directed and executive produced by Ben Stiller. Escape At Dannemora, starring Benicio del Toro, Paul Dano and Arquette, is based on the headline-making true story of a 2015 prison break in upstate New York, which spawned a massive manhunt for convicted murderers Richard Matt (played by del Toro) and David Sweat (Dano). The pair were aided in their escape by married female prison worker, Tilly Mitchell (Arquette), with whom they both became sexually entangled. Bobb will play Dennis Lambert, a corrections officer who supervises Tilly’s (Arquette) tailor shop at Clinton Correctional and is good friends with her husband, Lyle ((Eric Lange).

Rowena King (Of Kings and Prophets) is set for a key recurring role in Season 2 of Hulu’s Shut Eye. Created and executive produced by Les Bohem, Shut Eye centers on Charlie Haverford (Jeffrey Donovan), a scammer with a small chain of fortune-telling storefronts and who contracts building tricks for a family that controls the business in the greater chunk of Los Angeles. King will play Maggie. Once a high level advertising executive, Maggie was known for her ability to read and manipulate consumers’ desires. She is the backbone to “Psychic to the Stars”, Paz Kapoor’s (Aasif Mandvi) business and the one responsible for taking his street corner mystic act to its world famous status. Charlie (Jeffrey Donovan) will shortly learn that the British-born Maggie is not only his rival in charm, but also in skill.

Fox has ordered a script and pilot presentation for a half-hour animated comedy from Amy Poehler and her Paper Kite Productions, The Simpsons‘ veteran Mike Scully and his wife, former Simpsons writer/producer Julie Scully. 20th Century Fox TV and Universal TV, where Poehler is under a development deal, are the studios.

Co-created by Poehler and written by Mike and Julie Scully, the untitled project is centered on the family and friends of 15-year-old Duncan Harris, an average kid with dreams of being a UFC fighter, tech billionaire, video game champ, or any job where you make a ton of money and don’t have to wear a tie. The trio executive produce and Poehler also is attached to voice multiple characters. 3 Arts’ Dave Becky is producing.

Melinda McGraw (Mad Men, The Dark Knight) is set for a key recurring role opposite Steve Zahn in ABC’s new midseason drama series The Crossing.

Written/executive produced by Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie, executive produced by Jason Reed and directed by Rob Bowman, The Crossing revolves around refugees from a war-torn country who start showing up to seek asylum in an American town. But the country these people are from is America, and the war they are fleeing is 250 years in the future.

Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders is adding to the prosecution team.

Olympus Has Fallen actor Keong Sim has signed on for a recurring role in Dick Wolf's forthcoming drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The eight-episode first installment of the anthology is described as a "gripping in-depth dramatization" of the famed murder case that took America by storm in the early 1990s. When brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez were tried on national TV for brutally killing their parents in Beverly Hills on Aug. 20, 1989, their story became a nationwide obsession. Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders dives into the players, the crime and the media circus, detailing the day-to-day battles of the trial and unveiling the shocking truth of what really went down behind the scenes.

Sim will portray Deputy District Attorney Lester Kuriyama, the second fiddle to DDA Pam Bozanich (Elizabeth Reaser). He’s by-the-book, unimaginative, doesn't think outside the box and a lifer in the DA's office.

The Amazon comedy series from Gilmore Girls duo Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino has enlisted Wallace Shawn for a guest role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The hourlong stars Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards) as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a 1958 New York City woman who has everything she’s ever wanted — the perfect husband, two kids and an elegant Upper West Side apartment. But her perfect life suddenly takes an unexpected turn and Midge discovers a previously unknown talent — one that changes her life forever. She subsequently storms the world of stand-up comedy … a decision that will ultimately lead her to a spot on Johnny Carson’s couch.

Shawn will play Herb Smith, a self-proclaimed comedy writer who "shapes acts, writes jokes and eats pastrami."
