The Fosters - Too Fast, Too Furious - Review + POLL

This week on The Fosters:
Brandon is feeling like his relationship with Grace is moving a little bit fast forward and his ex-girlfriend Courtney is also back in this episode, asking if Brandon can babysit Mason for her. Brandon agrees and we find out at the end of the episode that Courtney is moving into another apartment with Mason but that they won't get the access to it for another week, so the Adams-Fosters lets Courtney and Mason stay in the garage while Gabe is out of town. I'm sure this will cause a lot of tension between Grace and Brandon in the next coming episodes, but it's going to be interesting to see what will happen. I actually really like Grace more with each episode so I'm kind of annoyed about Courtney being back because I know this will cause a lot of drama. I had honestly kind of forgot about Courtney until I saw her name pop up on Brandon's phone when she called him.

Jesus is still struggling with his TBI and I think that most of the family members are coming to terms with the fact that he's not going to be the same as he was, that this is something that's going to continue being a struggle. I like that the writers are taking their time with this storyline and not just "magically" making it all better because this is a real issue that a lot of people are struggling with and I'm just glad that the writers are really taking their time exploring all aspects of TBI. Stef and Lena are spending most of the episode trying to come to terms with everything going on with Jesus, and trying to figure out the best way for him to go back to school. We also get a really heartbreaking scene with Emma and Jesus where they're relationship is really up in the air after having a very raw but honest discussing about the abortion. Emma is not really my favourite character most of the time but her speech in this episode about it being her body, and her decision to have the abortion just felt so real and honest. I truly believe and think that it is a woman's body and therefore her decision when it comes to deciding whether or not to have an abortion, and that's why I found that scene so powerful.

Mariana has her first practice with the Latina Roller Derby team and she's struggling in the beginning, as most people are when they are trying something new. I liked the fact that they didn't make her brilliant on her first try, but that she fell and struggle for a bit, but she didn't give up and after some practice, it turns out that she's actually really good at roller derby. She's also trying to fit in and make some new friends from the derby team considering she probably feels really alone since she's lost most of her friends.

AJ is back in this episode and he's also a character that I kind of forgot about a little bit since he hasn't been in any of the other episodes this summer. Him and Callie has a few awkward conversations throughout the episode and then a real talk towards the end of the episode where both of them really tells the other how they're feeling. Callie confesses that he hurt her when he kissed that other girl and AJ replies by saying that he thinks that Callie has been into Aaron since the first time she met him.

The reason why Callie goes over to AJ to talk is because she said that she needs the whole thing with him to be done, and it looks like it is because of Aaron. Callie and Aaron is trying to decide throughout the episode if they're ready to have sex. Callie even asks Cole (who's back in this episode) for advise when it comes to having sex with someone who's transgender. That ends up backfiring for her because Aaron gets upset that she'd ask Cole for advise, and he also feels like he's not ready for them to have sex since sex is such a vulnerable thing for him. In the end, Callie tells Aaron that she's over AJ and that Aaron is not a rebound but she also tells him that she's not over the fact that AJ hurt her, and that's why she's not ready for them to have sex either. They then agree that whenever they are ready, Callie will come to Aaron with all her questions, and not someone else. I like that they both decided that they weren't ready and that the writers has decided to take this relationship slow going forward, because I feel like Aaron and Callie have a real connection. I think it's really important how the writers are really developing this relationship because it's so important to tell these stories, especially in today's society.

Favourite character:
I think my favourite character in this episode was Brandon, mostly because of the scene with Jesus that was one of my favourite scenes of the entire episode. One thing that I do love about Brandon is how much he cares about people and he didn't even hesitate to help Courtney when she needed his help with Mason which was really sweet of him even though it will definitely cause some problems for him with his current relationship. I do think Courtney coming back is kind of unnecessary drama but at the same time, Brandon can't seem to no try and help and play the hero so I understand why he did what he did. Back to the main reason as to why I picked Brandon this week, it was as I mentioned because of the scene with Jesus that I'll talk about more down below.

Best/Favourite scene:
I really loved the scene between Brandon and Jesus when they had a heart to heart and hugged. It was nice to see Brandon tell Jesus about his struggles when he hurt his hand and how he had to do things differently because he couldn't be the same. That's how it is for Jesus too, because he won't ever be the same, but that doesn't mean that he can't still be okay and I think Jesus finally understood that when he had this talk with Brandon.

Best quotes:
Brandon to Jesus: "Just because things won't be the same, doesn't mean they won't be okay"

What did you think about the episode? How do you think Courtney and Mason staying at the Adams-Fosters will effect Brandon's relationship with Grace? How long do you think it will take before Lena or Stef finds out about Mariana joining the roller derby team? Please, let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
