The Fargo exec producer is developing a series titled Space at FX, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The project, which landed a script development deal at the cabler, "examines astronauts who have an incredible experience on the moon, then come back to Earth and everything falls apart," Littlefield told THR for a recent interview. "It's a nod to the future."
Like Littlefield's other series, The Handmaid's Tale, Space would feature a nod to Trump if it is picked up to series. "In the pilot, there will be a Trump 2024 bumper sticker," he said.
Jim Cummings, who won the 2016 Sundance Short Film Grand Jury Prize for his writing and directorial effort Thunder Road, will write, star and exec produce the series with PJ McCabe. Littlefield, his son and vp of development Graham Littlefield, and Ann Johnson will also exec produce. Rawson Marshall Thurber (We're the Millers, Dodgeball) is attached to direct and exec produce should Space receive a pilot order. Fox 21, where Littlefield has an overall deal, will produce.
The project reunites him with Cummings, who guest-starred in the third episode of the acclaimed Elisabeth Moss drama. Littlefield praised the filmmaker as a "fresh young voice" when discussing Space. "It couldn't be more different than what we do, but I would watch it," he said.
