Five months after being taken out into the marketplace, the J.J. Abrams-produced dramedy about RuPaul has found a home.
Hulu has signed on to develop the half-hour dramedy tentatively titled Queen. The potential series is described as a fictionalized version of RuPaul's rise from club kid to drag queen, gay icon and global star.
Gary Lennon (Power) will pen the script and exec produce alongside RuPaul, Abrams and his Bad Robot topper Ben Stephenson as well as World of Wonder's Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato. Warner Bros. Television, where Abrams' Bad Robot is under a lucrative overall deal, will exec produce Queen, which is set in 1980s New York during the Ronald Reagan era.
