It was just in April that Hulu announced a pilot order for Locke & Key, based on the highly lauded horror graphic novel from Joe Hill, and now the first actor has been cast. Frances O’Connor of The Conjuring 2 has officially joined the adaptation, to be directed by It filmmaker Andy Muschietti, EW can confirm.
The series follows three siblings who relocate to their ancestral home in Maine after the vicious murder of their father. Once in the Locke mansion, they discover mystical keys that unlock an arsenal of magical abilities when paired with their respective doors on the grounds — a discovery that will put them on the radar of a demon hellbent on claiming the keys for itself.
O’Connor will play Nina Locke, mother to the children. In the comics, the character struggles with an alcohol dependency as she seeks to drown the PTSD from the family tragedy.
