FOX is teaming with Grease Live and Hamilton's Thomas Kail as well as New Girl duo Dave Finkel and Brett Baer for Immediate Family, a live, interactive family comedy.
The multicamera comedy, which landed at Fox with a script plus penalty commitment, is about a real-life hero who’s convinced he’s the only one who can keep his super-diverse, super screwed-up family from falling apart. He might be alone on that.
Finkel and Baer — longtime writing partners whose credits also include 30 Rock and United States of Tara — will pen the script and exec produce. Kail — who won a Tony for helming Hamilton and two Emmys for Fox's Grease Live — will direct the potential pilot and produce the 20th Century Fox Television and Old 320 Sycamore comedy. Old 320 Sycamore head of development Kate Sullivan will also be credited as an exec producer.
The live comedy comes more than a year after NBC turned Undateable into a live comedy in its third season.
