11:00 - Akiva Goldsman Projects - Details on The Dark Tower TV Show, Titans, Avengelyne, Ologiesa and Rainbow Six
Thanks to CGS for the heads up. The full article on Deadline showcases all of the projects.

All this comes as Goldsman’s decade-long effort to adapt Stephen King’s The Dark Tower novel series with A Beautiful Mind cohorts Ron Howard and Brian Grazer is about to pay off with the Nicolaj Arcel-directed film that stars Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. Goldsman shares screen credit with Jeff Pinkner, Anders Thomas Jensen and Arcel, and he is the film’s producer with Howard, Erica Huggins and King. The film was co-financed by Sony Pictures and MRC. Another iteration of the King saga, an origin story of Elba’s mythical gunslinger, could materialize on television.

“The first episode of a show has been written, and we hope to retain Ron’s original idea to mix platforms, something that seemed revolutionary 10 years ago but now is something that others have done,” Goldsman said. “Idris for sure is part of this, and if the movie is Roland Deschain the gunslinger, the show is his origin story, based on the fourth novel in the series, Wizard and Glass.

Goldsman’s first-look TV deal is with Imagine, but he has been working with Viacom on the new spinoff Star Trek: Discovery that will launch the CBS All Access streaming service. Goldsman is an exec producer, writer and director on the show. He also is teamed with Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti at Warner Bros on Titans, based on the DC Comics property Teen Titans revolving around Nightwing, Batman’s sidekick Dick Grayson after he goes off on his own. Goldsman co-write the pilot with Johns; it has been set for a 13-episode commitment and will launch DC’s new digital platform.

02:55 - MOVIES: Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! - Lily James Joins Sequel

Baby Driver star Lily James has signed on to star in Universal's sequel to Mamma Mia, the 2008 adaptation of the stage musical based on ABBA songs that was one of the biggest hits in studio history, grossing more than $600 million worldwide.

Ol Parker, the writer of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and its sequel, wrote and will direct Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, with the new musical being slotted for release on July 20, 2018.

Several stars of the original movie — including Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried, Christine Baranski and Colin Firth — will be returning for the follow-up, which will include ABBA songs not featured in the first film, along with some reprised favorites. James, who sang "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" for 2015's Cinderella, will play the role of "Young Donna." The pic goes back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present.

17:40 - Black Lightning - Interview
Thanks to Emily for the heads up.

At ATX, you guys said you wouldn’t be doing a villain of the week. Why not go that route?

I’m sure you’ve read Moby Dick. When I read Moby Dick, I really understood the whale. No pun intended, but I really did, I got the point of view. So, in my storytelling, I really do want to understand the villain. What is motivating you to be this villain? What’s your backstory? What was your childhood like? A superhero is only as good as his villain, so I wanted to tell the story of the villain and I didn’t feel like I could do that if I was bringing a different villain in every week. I want people to understand, because I grew up around people who were considered villains, considered very horrible people, but because I grew up with them and went to school with them, I knew what their issues and their problems were. That didn’t excuse their behavior, but it did complicate the idea of them being this horrible person. It complicated it, because you knew the human side of them. Some of these people that I knew, who had done horrible things, were also some of the people who had helped me out of horrible situations. I really wanted to have the viewers understand why Tobias Whale is, was, and will be the way that he is. I think that makes the story that more dynamic and that more exciting. So that’s why I didn’t want to do a villain of the week.

23:00 - Roseanne - Latest from TVLine

Although Johnny Galecki’s involvement in ABC’s forthcoming Roseanne revival remains an open question, new details have come to light that suggest his character, David Healy, will at the very least have a strong presence in the eight-episode continuation.

ABC declined to comment for this story, but TVLine has learned that producers — which include Galecki’s onscreen squeeze Sara Gilbert as well as titular star Roseanne Barr, actress-comedienne Whitney Cummings and sitcom vet Brice Heldford — have quietly begun searching for a young actress and actor to portray the children of Gilbert’s Darlene and Galecki’s David.

23:00 - You're the Worst - Season 4 - Raymond J. Barry to Guest

The actor, whose credits also include Gotham and Ray Donovan, will guest star as Burt, a loner who meets Jimmy (Chris Geere) in the special hourlong season four opener. Burt is an aggressively independent and set-in-his-ways loner who has built a life of solitude in a rural trailer park outside Los Angeles. He and Jimmy, both seeking seclusion from the real world, form an unlikely friendship, bonding over their love of whiskey and old TV shows.

17:45 - Melrose - Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hugo Weaving and Anna Madeley Join Showtime & Sky Atlantic's Miniseries

Showtime's forthcoming limited series Melrose continues to add to its impressive cast list.

Oscar nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Matrix grad Hugo Weaving and The Crown's Anna Madeley have signed on for the Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Based on the acclaimed Patrick Melrose series of semi-autobiographical novels written by Edward St. Aubyn, Patrick Melrose hilariously skewers the upper class as it tracks the protagonist’s harrowing odyssey from a deeply traumatic childhood through adult substance abuse and, ultimately, toward recovery.

Each of the five episodes, which will be co-produced by Sky Atlantic, is devoted to one of the five novels. The series will encompass the saga of Patrick Melrose’s life, from his horribly abusive youth at the hands of his father (Weaving) and the mother who tacitly condones the behavior (Leigh), to the outrageous playboy he becomes and the struggles he endures to defy the damage of his own past. The limited series will cover periods including the South of France in the 1960s, New York in the 1980s and Britain in the early 2000’s.

Meanwhile, Madeley will play Melrose's wife.
