DARK MATTER, "Hot Chocolate", July 21, 2017, Actors: Melissa O'Neil, Alex Mallari Jr., The Scene: Two and Four duel
Kollin: We haven't got much hand-to-hand combat in Dark Matter, so it was refreshing to see Two and Four go at it. The fight itself was hard hitting and physical as both went blow for blow - you could really feel the hate they have for each other. The scene was then capped off by a game changing exchange when Four pleads his innocence in the death of Nyx, expressing betrayal and sadness, and making Two see some, albeit just a glimmer, of redemptive qualities in him.
GAME OF THRONES, "Dragonstone", July 16, 2017, Actors: David Bradley, Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke and more, The Scenes: Arya's revenge on House Frey & Daenerys Targaryen arrives at Dragonstone
Justyna K: It was a fantastic start of the long-awaited new season of the show and there's several scenes that could be highlighted in the article. But after watching the very opening of the hour I can't help but choose the moment when "Winter came for House Frey". David Bradley and Maisie Williams did an incredible work in the scene. While Arya managed to capture the exact image and behavior of Walder Frey, David Bradley truly showed the genius behind the change. Whether the viewers knew right away what was happening or expected the scene to be a flashback, I'm sure no one was disappointed. In an episode filled with brilliant moments and performances it still felt like Arya stole the hour for me. Such a memorable entrance and a powerful way to start the season. Kudos to the entire cast & crew for their great work on the premiere. Just looking at all the incredible interactions and moments from the episode (Dany's arrival, the Hound's change, the preparation for battle and winter in King's Landing & Winterfell), it's clear how much more there's still to come. Can't wait to see the rest of the journey for all these characters.
Max: The last scene, where Daenerys (along with Tyrion, Missandei, Grey Worm, and Varys) finally arrives at Dragonstone. It was a moment 6 seasons in the making, and the sequence was beautifully shot at an incredible location. Without any dialogue until the final moment, the scene had me on the edge of my seat... and then cheering loudly as the episode ended with, "Shall we begin?"
Saloni: Dany's solemn but beautiful entry into Westeros and just taking it all in as she lands in Dragonstone and explores the place. I love that Missandei, Tyrion, and co. gave her the space to do it.
Luana: Daenerys arrives at Dragonstone. This scene was what we'd all been waiting for and it didn't disappoint, it was stunning, and the fact that instead of sitting on the throne immediately (which I think is something her father would've done) she went for the strategy table, ready to continue her journey.
Kollin: Arya Gets Her Revenge. Arya, disguised as Walder Frey, poisons all of Frey house. Her speech was brilliant, slowly building to the reveal of who she really is, capped off by her relaying to the young girl, "Tell them the North remembers. Tell them winter came for House Frey." This was a brutally awe inspiring scene and the perfect moment to open the premiere. It was a moment we had all been waiting for since The Red Wedding four years ago when Arya's older brother and mother were murdered by the Freys, making it all the more satisfying to watch.
NASHVILLE, "You Can't Lose Me", July 20, 2017, Actors: Clare Bowen, Kaitlin Doubleday, The Scene: Scarlett and Jessie talk on the couch
Luana: Clare Bowen killed it in this episode and her last speech was truly powerful, but it was this little moment, when she finally got to truly open up to somebody about her pain that I felt was most necessary. She needs to make some changes in her life and I'm glad she's getting there.
ORPHAN BLACK, "Gag or Throttle", July 22, 2017, Actors: Tatiana Maslany, Skyler Wexler, The Scene: Rachel hands Kira over to Sarah
Samantha: I'm still not a fan of Rachel. She has done too many bad things over the shows 5 year run, and had she not discovered the eye was being used to spy on her & she was still after all these years just thought of as a test subject I doubt she would've handed Kira over. But the fact of the matter is she did and it was a powerful scene, full of misdirect in the build-up.
PREACHER, "Dallas", July 17, 2017, Actors: Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, The Scene: Jesse tells Tulip he didn't kill Viktor
Milo: This was a really tense moment in an otherwise underwhelming episode. Jesse's use of wording made Tulip instantly think that he had killed Viktor, only for Jesse to clarify otherwise, really paid off the will he/won't he tension that had been building throughout the entire episode.
SUITS, "The Statue", July 19, 2017, Actors: Gabriel Macht, Gina Torres
The Scene: Harvey and Jessica reconcile
Laura: The ending scene with Harvey and Jessica reconciling. It was so nice to see Jessica again. Really wish she never left in the first place. Also picked by Jimmy
WYNONNA EARP, "Everybody Knows", July 21, 2017, Actors: Melanie Scrofano, Dominique Provost-Chalkley, Tim Rozon, Katherine Barrell, The Scenes: Waverly accidentally tells Doc he might not be the father & Nicole and Wynonna at the strip club
Samantha: Waverly accidentally tells Doc he might not be the father. We haven't had as many scenes between them this season, but I enjoyed Waverly/Doc's friendship last season and this was a great scene even if it was brief. The heartbreak on Doc's face and Waverly's horror at realizing she'd put her foot in it, and Doc claiming that Wynonna would be better off without him was just done so well. This whole cast has such great chemistry with one another and it really tells when you have the different team-ups/interactions.
Luana: Nicole and Wynonna at the strip club. The relationship between these two is an odd one, but I like how much they bonded this week, I liked Nicole a hell of a lot more in just one episode, the way she protected Wynonna and how she drank for three was hilarious and endearing at the same time. Hopefully we'll get more of these two together.
ZOO, "Welcome to the Terra Dome", July 20, 2017, Actors: Kristen Connolly, Billy Burke
The Scene: Jamie and Mitch kiss
Klutzy girl: Jamie and Mitch finally give in to their feelings for each other and kiss. It's been a long time coming and I'm looking forward to seeing how their relationship progresses from here.
