Wynonna Earp 202

Things were certainly shaken up last week in the season two opener of this summer hit. The events seem to have caused a bit of discord with our group, which continues in this week’s episode.
With the departure of Dolls, Agent Lucado is the unlucky boss of these unwanted new recruits. She reminds them if there are no results the consequences are a bullet to the brain which no one wants. Jeremy, (remember the science tech guy?) is also on board to help with tracking and bagging any wayward demons. It’s going to hell in Purgatory. Maybe literally with a breaking of a seal, which we all know leads to bad things. Looks like it’s going to get sticky for the Earp’s and I do mean sticky.

Let’s take a closer look at episode 2

Things are getting steamy, well they are in the shower, but Wynonna and Doc seem to have gotten into some goo and are getting cleaned up. Lucado is belittling Wynonna’s report writing skills and we can all agree it may not be her strong suit but it’s entertaining, though I really don’t want to know about how hairy Nedley is.

Question - how is Doc keeping his cigar lit? Also, important words of advice from the new boss; Never touch the goo!

Over on a work site, a builder is using a portable toilet ... well, let’s say it’s not ending well and it’s not because of what he ate last night. In fact, it looks like he may have been digested. Is no place sacred?

His work colleague reports the unusual events to Officer Nicole Haugh. Waverly overhears but her attempt to speak to Nicole gets a cold reception and clearly, she is still angry for being shut out last week.

Lucado lays down the law, they need to bag them and bring them in, no more annihilation of the bad things. Harsh though saying Waves is the coffee maker. Of course, you know Wynonna isn’t going to stand for it but looks like she is stuck for now. Doc walks away showing his destain but what did he discover underfoot?

Wynonna heads to the work site and meets an old friend. Seems she wasn’t the only bad girl in town. Mercedes, who seems to have come from money, is out to make some on the dying property values in the town.

At a deserted school, what possibly could be wrong there, one of the workers is looking a bit shifty.

Wynonna follows, seems revenant Earl is known to her but a spooky looking lady in black with a distinctive perfume has Wynonna thinking her sister Willa may be back from the grave. Of course, Earl hightails it out of there but Wynonna finds the remains of the dead worker.

Wynonna tries to dissect the egg type cocoon with some sticky goo but it isn’t happening. Luckily Waverly drops by and helps. However, it contains a spidery surprise in this egg. Thankfully, thanks to a trash can and improvement in Wynonna’s aim, it is soon dispatched. Lucado has a demon and a message from Wynonna.

However, what is Doc up to? Could Shorty’s be under new ownership soon?
He also seems to have some friend’s, not sure how he acquired them being stuck in the well, but he certainly has some contacts. Protection seems to be the right price to get Rosita on board but what does Doc want her to do?

Jeremy the tech guy should learn never hang around a lady’s house while she is in the shower. He clearly fears Wynonna and, after him revealing some personal info, Wynonna has a pet name for him. All Jeremy wants to do is examine the spider which isn’t on Lucado’s desk but at the homestead.

Wynonna is still feeling the pain of shooting her sister which is understandable, Waverly, who always seemed to have been shut out by Willa who was so nasty to her, is reading Willa’s Diary to Nicole, Willa states in it Waverly isn’t an Earp. Nicole tries to comfort her and maybe more but Wynonna comes up the stairs she tells Waverly about the Woman in Black and smelling Willa’s perfume.
Waverly suggests they burn Willa’s stuff to eradicate her.

Wynonna adds another skill to her list by starting a fire. As it burns there's an awkward conversation with Doc that leaves you wondering how far the gap between these two has gone and why he is being so distant. Wynonna thinks it is because she kissed Dolls but I fear more is going on.

Meanwhile, Mercedes, Wynonna’s old buddy from way back, calls for help. Flying women in black and a few spiders, just as Jeremy rightly predicted, are about.

Wynonna arrives in time and gains Mercedes respect. Seems she knew there was more to Purgatory. Wynonna asks Waverly to take her friend home, which she doesn’t.

Wynonna runs into Earl again. Seems he is protecting something but what? After all, you don’t always get creepy things in old school buildings...right?

Meanwhile, Lucado finds an empty safe and we can guess where Doc found the means to get Shorty’s. However, the flirting from Lucado left me as cold as it did Doc. Seems keeping the unsavoury in the bar might help them both.

Of course, Waverly didn’t listen to Wynonna, tire iron in hand. The Earp sisters prove they can exterminate the demon spiders. They got gooey as well (if you follow the actresses on Twitter it was an interesting mixture). Mercedes is staying in Purgatory. Seems her family has a few issues. As they leave, two very scary Woman in Black types appear. I am freaked, aren’t you?

Once again, it's shower time because yes there is goo everywhere. Lucado doesn’t seem to be interested in Wynonna’s account, in fact, she is very distracted. Jeremy seems to have asked a highly inappropriate question. I love sassy Wynonna but poor Jeremy needs to be careful what he says.
It’s safe to conclude things are being drawn to the school.

Meanwhile, Doc’s friend Rosita liked his offer but what will they be cooking up in the basement?

At the school, as Wynonna suspected, Earl wasn’t up to any goo. He is a demon…. Wynonna, don’t be so shocked. , Earl has made a blood sacrifice and cracked the sea. Oh, where have I seen that before? Is hell (Mouth) going to open? The Earp sisters are standing strong together and there is a very uplifting little speech from Wynonna.

Back at the homestead, Nicole confesses to Waverly she seems different. Nicole seems to think it’s because Waverly needs to know for certain if she is an Earp. So Nicole brings papers to help her. A kiss leads further and I love the fact you hear Nicole ask if it's ok.

Wynonna feels she needs to let Willa go but her tears don’t seem to touch Waverly and, as she leaves, Dark Waverly rises eating a dead demon spider as a snack.

While I enjoyed the episode, it did seem a tad all over the place but I felt that was its intention. Like the spiders, it is weaving the web to bring everything in for this season. What that is going to be, and who those creepy dark floaty things are, only time will tell.
