This week on the Originals, Freya and Hayley confronted the Hollow. After messing with their heads in the form of Keelin and Jackson, Hayley manages to kill her just after Hope unlinks the Hollow from Davina. Unfortunately, the Hollow only changed hosts and is now possessing Hope. Klaus confronts Kol, who double-crossed Rebekah and Marcel, and lets him leave town with Davina. Freya manages to bring back Elijah.
Biggest waste of potential: I get that they wanted to keep us in suspense where Kol’s fate was concerned, but they truly wasted his scene with Klaus. They cut it right before the most important part. We’ve seen Klaus and Kol fight plenty of times, but when Kol mentions that Klaus would’ve done the same for Cami, you can see Klaus’ expression change. And then they cut it! We were just about to get to the best part. Klaus granting his brother mercy when we all know he’s daggered siblings before for a lot less. I wanted to hear what was said afterward. Did Klaus tell Kol to go be happy? I want to know!
Not on board: I knew it was only a matter of time before they went down the usual road with Rebekah and Marcel but I really wanted to be wrong this time. They have too much baggage to ever have a healthy relationship. And what Marcel said about how Rebekah didn’t come back for him… First of all, she thought he was dead, pretty sure that had already been established. Then there’s the fact that she was daggered in a coffin for 90 years. And it’s not like he ever came looking for her either. Sorry, that comment just really pissed me off. Look, I think they both deserve to be happy but I don’t think they’ll find happiness with each other. It’ll probably just result in even more heartbreak.
Best reunion: I’m so glad Davina and Josh got their reunion. That smile is one we haven’t seen for a while. It’s a shame the reunion was only temporary (getting to that in a second) because Josh deserves to have a best friend looking out for him. Speaking of which, what exactly was the point of bringing Davina back if she’s just leaving again in the next episode. Was that purely to cause problems within the Mikaelsons? It just struck me as odd that they wouldn’t have held off on them leaving until the finale. BTW, did it seem odd to anyone else that Marcel and Davina didn’t get a reunion?
Predictions: Aside from being terrified of what being possessed by the Hollow is going to do to Hope, I am beyond excited to see how Summer pulls off playing the Hollow. I’ve already been very impressed with her this season and suspect she’ll do brilliantly. Klaus and Hayley, on the other hand, will probably have a meltdown when they realize what’s happened to their daughter, not to mention the fact that Hayley will probably think it was her fault. Her relationship with Elijah is probably also going to take a turn for the worse when he returns next week but I’ll save the discussion on that for next week’s review.
I still have no clue who is going to die. Let’s go over the suspects, shall we? Klaus is a possibility but his death would never be permanent. If it was him, he’d probably be resurrected within the first few episodes of season 5. Kol may have driven off into the sunset (or moonlight) with Davina but perhaps there was a reason why they did that this week rather than in the finale. Rebekah is not on my list because I’m in complete denial here, there will be one hell of a rant if they go there. Marcel is also a possibility. His storyline has been kind of lacking this season which could be a sign. Vincent is still my number one suspect. The Hollow started out with him in New Orleans so it would be fitting if it ended with him (though, I hope not). And of course, Freya, Keelin and Josh (and Eddie) are at risk because, while it may be Pride month, the CW has never given a crap about that before. Someone better start handing out bulletproof vests. It is of course completely possible that no one will die, but not likely.
Best quotes: Hope: “I’m not supposed to do magic with strangers.”
Davina: “I love you.” Josh: “I love you too.”
That’s it for this week. Check in again next week for an all-new review and let me know in the comments what you thought of this week’s episode.
Please be respectful in the comments, any unnecessary rudeness isn't welcome.
