As the season progresses it is becoming abundantly clear that realtionships are the driving force. Between working relationships and romantic ones, there are a lot of complex dynamics going on within the team that are heavily highlighted this week. As things progress with the case they are forced to confront some of their own issues. Things end up becoming very personal for all involved which only adds to the intensity that drives everything forward. Given that the case involves spies don't expect anything to be as it seems. Even the stitches are unusual and unlike any others that have come before.
The complexities of the case seep over into their personal lives. It forces them to realize things about their own situations that lead to many much-needed conversations. There are also some pretty big emotional revelations that come about as the result of certain events. One character ends up in a life or death hand-to-hand fight while others find themselves on the wrong end of a gun. The stakes are very high especially given the fact that this case involves spies who are determined to not make things easy for the NSA. There are big grand gestures of love, moments of jealousy, secrets being kept, and just about everything in between. Also, Fisher finally gets some real solid relationship moments with Stephanie though even he is thrown a curveball. As the episode winds down the final act is a big one with some very large revelations. It also ends up presenting a whole new set of questions in regards to a discovery that is made.
This episode is one of those where the case and overall theme meet in a perfect marriage. The individual character stories and the case naturally weave in and out of each other with faultless ease. Other procedural shows really need to look at Stitchers to see how these sort of shows can indeed have terrific character development while still having engaging cases. It has high stakes both emotionally and physically which really aids to make the overall tone feel so organic. This episode checks off all the boxes that should make it one that fans will love.
