iZombie - Return of the Dead guy - Review: Best of both worlds

This week iZombie delivered their best episode of the season and as it seems the show will continue to kick but heading into their final 3 episodes of season 4. Return of the Dead guy hit all the right notes in both drama and comedy departments. The episode was written by Talia Gonzalez & Bisanne Masoud and directed by Viet Nguyen.

Peyton knowing the truth about Zombie and being in the inner circle really did great stuff for the chemistry between her and Liv. The Dominatrix role play scene was simply hilarious and Aly and Rose really played so well of each other. I felt sorry for Peyton as Liv on blue brain revealed that she actually put the right guy away for killing the Dominatrix. Still, Liv did help her as another vision revealed that Weckler didn't kill himself but was killed in prison. Later it was revealed that Weckler's killer, guard Gary died as well. The mystery deepens and I'm eager to see where this story will lead to. Also, something new and pleasant was the interactions between Clive and Peyton, they worked well together and as the newbies in the Zombie world, it is really refreshing to see them interact and being all odd about it.

Meanwhile, I did appreciate the return of Drake (guest star Greg Finley) but it didn't really bring anything new to the story. I mean doing this resolution for Liv was certainly great but I mean we are already 10 episodes into the new season and it feels misplaced. But I have to give it to the writers it was a beautiful resolution and I've laughed so hard while Liv was making out with a nonexistent Drake.

I did enjoy Ravi's individual story this week. Seeing Ravi out there on his own, breaking chains and blazing trails was truly entertaining. Rahul Kohli is an amazing performer and giving him this much individual space was just a blessing. He brought the laughs and the drama and having Don E take part in this story was another hilarious move by the writers. Don E trying to bite into Ravi's skull while Ravi was searching for a burner phone between Don E's but cheeks was hilarious. I also liked that they've brought back Rachel(Ella Cannon), the reporter from the previous episode. Love the chemistry between her and Ravi and I hope we see more of them in the future.

Last but not least there was the story about Blaine and Mr. Boss. I've never thought I would say this but poor Mr. Boss. He thought he was so mighty on his high horse just for Zombie Blaine to teach him a lesson every time. I like Zombie Blaine, he is cold, cutthroat and always has an agenda and David Anders is great at playing villains.

The episode ended with Liv and Blaine teaming up so they could rescue Ravi and Don E. Next week's promo looks promissing so don't forget to tune into iZombie this Tuesday at 9/8 central. Meanwhile, scroll down and share your thoughts in the comment section below.
