iZombie - Mr. Goodbrain, Part 1 - Review: A Qudditch Injury

Episode 12 of iZombie was directed by Michael Fields and written by Diane Ruggiero-Wright & John Enbom. The episode itself was a huge improvement over the mostly underwhelming season. The episode balanced out the dramatic and comedic moments very well and resulting in a Major blowout.

I have to say I've got pretty much used to Rose in her Zombie styling but she looks purely ravishing in her non zombie look such an unbelivable beauty.

Liv on Ravi's ex-girlfriend brain was a pure delight. Still not sure at what I laughed more Liv being slightly disgusted by Ravi and avoiding eye contact or by Clive's fear or bioterrorism. So hilarious and it was a great new way to make the trio interact with each other.

The only thing I disliked about the interrogation scenes was the women describing the Muslim passenger. I get they intended to make it seem funny and a mockery of how people have prejudices but I just was repulsed by the whole scene. You can do better iZ writers and your viewers deserve better.

Liv seeking out men in the bar was a welcome change and I loved all the voiceovers from her and the moral struggle within her was very well executed. Rose once again proved she is a stunning actress. And while I'm not a fan of her hooking up with Chase Graves I saw it coming from miles away. You don't get Jason Dohring on your show to play a side character. I love how bossy he is and how well he fits into the verse. I hope he sticks around for an arc in season 4 if he doesn't get promoted to a series regular.

Was I the only one ho felt that the hook up felt bit flat? They both are handsome people but the sex scene lacked intensity. The flirting was great, the post coital scene felt sincere (the girls & some guys certainly enjoyed the view on Jason's rock solid body) but the sex just didn't felt convincing.

My heart did break for Major this week, he just can't catch a break. I said week or two ago that I see Major eaving Seattle at the end of this season and this act of violence at the end of the episode was the final nail in the coffin. He needs to get away and he needs a fresh start.

RiP Nathalie. I've enjoyed the character a lot and she and Major shared great chemistry.

Major kudos to the writers for pulling of this twist with Harley Jones. I thought they would bring a redemption arc towards us but this was something I didn't expect.

Clive being sidelined week after week with this procedural stories is something that annoys me. It is just a waste of a great character and actor, push him deeper in the mix he can do soooo much more.

Meanwhile, I'm bit bored by how long they are stretching out this story between Peyton and Barakus. I assume they will try to peak it in the next episode but it really seems like we are at it for forever. I did enjoy the scene between Liv and Peyton, the show needs a lot more of the two of them interacting, they just elevate the show and make it more enjoyable to watch.

BTW I didn't ask myself once where Blaine and Don E were during the first time I watched the episode. Noticed their absence just the second time around.

Just one more episode left this season and just when the story started heating up, as usual. What are your thoughts on Mr. Goodbrain Part 1? And don't forget to tune in this coming Tuesday for the big season 3 finale of iZombie, 9/8 central on The CW
