"Nobody near me is safe."

Chaos Is Come Again

Clearly we are nearing the finale because this episode starts hot right off the bat, in the middle of a shooting, Bullets fly everywhere as Harlee reports someone injured. But, of course, we go back in time as Harlee and Woz pick Espada up from lock up and Cristina meets with Stahl to talk about Miguel but he tries to take information out of her about the crew, which she refers to as her "own private collection of crazy aunts and uncles." He brings up Sap and she says her mom has never been the same after his death, even if she pretends to be. He tries to get her to tell him what the address Caddie had means but he pushes too hard and Cristina realizes something's off, thankfully she walks away.

If this doesn't have a purpose it will look like they just don't know what to do with Sarah Jeffery, they just need some more quiet scenes at home with her mother, I think that would add a lot to the show, instead of trying to get her right in the action when it's not necessary. Luckily in this episode we do get a taste of that, specially the scene at the church, but I think most of their conversations should be of that sort of caliber, I hope this means they've realized that now.

Once Cristina gets home she texts "Miguel" about the weird questions, and when Stahl texts back as him, Harlee sees the message in shock. Later she takes Cristina to a carousel and gets all nostalgic, saying she'd like to thank him one day, for the good he did, and Cristina tells her about the investigator, Harlee figures out who he is right away and tries to warn Caddie but she finds him dead of a supposed overdose in his apartment. It's sad, but I don't think he added all that much to the show. Harlee calls Woz and she ends up confessing that she killed Miguel, she says she's tired of so much death around her, she's disgusted that she just played her daughter, like some criminal. She decides she's had enough of Stahl but Woz tries to convince her to be patient.

The woman that was on the almost shootout with Quince last week, comes to Loman for help because her boy is missing, Loman tells Woz and he says they should include Tufo, since he has stake in the matter and Woz is clearly trying to get him back on the team.

Tufo: Yo, are you two ladies throwing hoops or do you wanna find this kid?
Tess: No, us ladies can multitask.

They find the kid playing chess in the park and realize he was being used to distribute the drugs by QUince, Tufo says if they arrest the guy his brother will go down as well but Woz tells him he'll think of something.

Tess: Anyone ever mess with my kid like that, I'll drop'em without even blinking.

And we cut to Harlee, buying all things necessary for a Dexter room since she texted Stahl to meet up from Cristina's phone. Chills over here. She ends up waiting for Stahl at the cafe with Gail Baker, and greets him with a gut-punch and a threat, instead of a gun.

Harlee: Come near my daughter again and no one will ever find you.

Gail tells him what he did is not unconventional, but illegal, and tells him to suit up for his disciplinary hearing. He threatens Harlee before she leaves, and we see he's unhinged now, with almost nothing to loose and more dangerous than ever. He goes to Mrs. Saperstein for help and she tells him that the number he has belongs to the lot where her son is buried. So, Stahl buys a shovel immediately, when he wants to go back to his car someone is blocking him, he asks the guy to leave but the guy says he'll need a minute and Stahl breaks his window with the shovel, crazy ass fucker.

Nate shows up trying to talk to Woz but he finds Tess, she asks what's wrong and instead of questioning her about the allegations he tells her they have a problem, it looks like Nate might be more similar to his father than we'd thought. Tess confronts Loman and punches him in the gut, telling him if he needs to confess he should go to a priest, she tells him the world he idealizes cannot exists as long as the truth is that he got away with killing an unarmed man. I'm loving Tess so much, man. And also Verco, even if he's annoying, every scene he's inn is just hilarious, speaking of which.

Verco: Going through the boss' desk, he could have you arrested.
Nate: Then he would have to bail me out, which means showing up
Verco: You must be the wayward son.
Nate: You must be Nancy Drew.
Verco: Is that what they're calling me?
Nate: I gotta protect my sources.

Loman, now "reformed", shows up thinking Nate might be talking to Verco about something else, and says he's ready for the interview so Verco has to go, Verco does but he leaves his cell recording. Loman asks for the tapes but Nate refuses, Loman says he's changed his mind, that there's some good to Woz still, though this is not about something good in Woz but something not so perfect in himself.

Tufo talks to the kid's mom while Woz goes to meet with Quince at a diner where they'll set him up. He tells her she needs to either really get involved in her kid's life, or get un-involved, for good, because being in the middle won't end well. They put a gun on the backpack so they arrest him for that and not just the drugs, all this while Verco watches from a far.

Tufo: What is this? an intervention?
Harlee: No, we gave up on you a long time ago, Tufo.

Everyone is over at Wozniak's drinking and he tells Tufo he has the paperwork saying Wallace is a confidential informant, therefore, anything he did is inadmissible for a conviction, and he offers him his badge back. In that moment Nate shows up and confronts his father about being gay, he says it makes sense now, that he loved his own drug-addict daughter unconditionally, but never him, no matter how much he tried, and now he realized every time he saw his son he saw something about himself he hated. That's some deep conversation not to get it's own long scene.

Woz goes dark and tells him he loves him but if he ever brings the subject up again, that will be their last conversation. Nate says maybe that's a reward, and in that instant, he gets shot through the window. It looks like Woz can't argue with his children without them dying on him. There are bullets cascading everywhere and Woz grabs a gun and tells Harlee to get his son to the hospital while he covers for them. Later, once everyone's at the hospital too, they say Nate will pull through and Loman tells Woz he saved them and they'll find the people who did it. Wozniak agrees and his monster seems to be awaken.

What did you guys think of this episode? Do you think Nate will die? Did you find the conversation with his father as interesting as I did? I'd love to read your thoughts.
