iZombie - Dirt Nap Time - Review: Life Sucks

Hello dear iZombie fans! Season 3 was a slight up and down from my point of view still, Dirt Nap Time was probably their strongest outing so far. The episode written by Deidre Mangan and directed by Michael Fields was filled with heartbreak and a fantastic comedic performance by Rose McIver.

The episode started right were the previous outing ended, the revelation that Major gave the last doze of the cure to his friend, Nathalie. Liv's highly emotional reaction felt so real. Rose really gave it a go with this one, letting all her emotions go. Especially enjoyed her kicking Blaine's behind. The bastard deserved it so much. Random people throwing insults at him for getting a beating from a girl was so hilarious.

And while the Blaine part of the story gave Rose space to shine as a dramatic actress, the case of the week showed us her real range as an actress. After eating an "easy" teacher's brain, the story just turned into a laugh fest. I couldn't contain myself, I just laughed scene after scene she and Clive shared while investigating the murder case. It was simply brilliant, even the second time around.

Also, I was really happy seeing Shanae Grimes as on of the teacher's sexual partners. I really need her back on my tv, on a regular basis. Go get yourself a show!

Liv's date with Justin was so sweet. I liked the pun about Liv's boyfriends before the date though. The two really hit it off but the date made me think about where do Liv and Major stay at the moment. What's the hold-up? I mean I get they are a no go again as he isn't a Zombie anymore but they do have feelings for each other.

And while Liv brought the emotions throughout the outing, Peyton brought the emotions. Especially Peyton. Ali did such a fantastic job with Peyton being so nostalgic and sensual over her break up with Blaine. The resolution to the dominatrix case she was handling wasn't really something I've expected.

Major's story this week was another highlight. Him adjusting to the new normal was very well handled and I expect to see more of Robert Buckley killing it in this role. He really brings his A game week after week and this week wasn't an exception either. The range of emotions he shows is always a pleasure to watch.

Still, I did dislike how easily he and Justin were fooled by those Zombie haters and got filmed. Felt a tidbit lazy from the writers. But I can't wait to see what type of repercussions it will have for the overall story down the road.

I do dislike Scott and his shady business but I was super glad they took Blain out of the business. Didn't expect him to get shot though. You gotta appreciate the father-son love between Blaine and his dad, they literally love each other to death. PS. Major kudos to David Anders, hearing him sing is such a beautiful experience. I hope we get a couple more performances down the line. *_*

A very strong and enjoyable episode ended with some shocking moments that will headline the remaining episodes of season 3. I really hope they tone down the procedural aspect going forward and focus on the serialized part of their tale. It's your turn now, the comment section is your review field, feel free to share your thoughts on episode 7 of season 3 down below.
