Greys Anatomy 13.21 and 13.22

Firstly, I apologise to Grey Anatomy fans. when I said, I would review this series. I really was looking forward to it but sadly unexpected events have prevented me from doing so these past few weeks. Thank you to my fellow Spoiler TV writers for covering.

Here is a quick catch up review over the last two episodes.

I have followed Grey’s Anatomy from the start. Yes, way back when Meredith drank too much tequila and realises her date is the hot attending at the hospital where she would be a resident.

Along with Meredith I have cried many a tear and danced it out. I have lost favourites but also gained new ones and curse Shonda rhimes more than once ... As the show keeps coming back year after year so do I. Grey's Anatomy continues to engage audiences with wonderfully dramatic, heartfelt scripts and engaging storylines.

This season we have seen Meredith coming to terms with life without Derek, getting used to having a family. Not just her kids but her sister Maggie and sister in law Amelia
We have seen a big change at the hospital putting Bailey in charge and not only that but Richard no longer teaching the residents but a new Doctor who ruffles a few feathers and catches Arizona’s eye.

As we come to the end of season 13, Meredith after more than a few bumps and a plane ride becomes open to a relationship with Riggs. Meredith now wonders what to tell her sister, Maggie who confessed her feelings for him.

This is where we pick up in episode 21, Meredith is trying to find the best way to tell Maggie but after seeing the affection between them at a press conference Maggie doesn’t need to be told anything and behaves in rather a petulance manner.

April isn’t having a great day not only does a patient vomit on her but she has worms, yes actually worms in her stomach. I did squeal along with April at the one in her hair. I can see they were heading for the lighter side with this one… but worms Ewww. Make sure you wash your fruit.

The other lighter side is Bailey trying to match make and get Katherine and Richard back together. I am glad Bailey and Richard are back to talking. He and Katherine end up connecting again as all surgeons do over the pictures of the number of worms he removed from the patient's stomach.

However, the serious note for this episode and which had me once again reaching for the tissues was the return of Veronica, Alex's patient whom had cancer but refused treatment due to being pregnant. Due to complications, she must have an emergency C-section. Sadly, though she throws a clot but her DNR (do not resuscitate) order she signed before surgery stands and refuses further treatment. Caterina Scorsone as always gives her all in this heart-wrenching performance as Amelia holds the dying patient.

Owen comes across her in the elevator and hugs her now words are spoken, can’t this two makeup already.

In episode 22 Meredith is cleaning out her closets, well the giant tumour picture Derek drew. Maggie and Amelia soon realise she is making way for Riggs coming over and doesn’t want to freak out like last time.

At the hospital, a woman who comes in after an unfortunate accident also has a large inoperable tumour. I can see the irony here. Maggie thinks she can get it but as unfortunately, it defeats even her skill set.

A small boy comes into the emergency room on his own with headaches but before they get any information he has a seizure. Stephanie and Alex are on his case but when the parents are located they take him home against medical advice. It is against their religious beliefs to treat him. Stephaine isn’t happy and once again we see a few cracks appearing with her. Sadly, this boy has a tumour and he comes back, later on, unable to see as its blocking his optic nerve. Alex takes a huge risk operating but I feel there may be consequences to this one. Stephanie loses it with the patient’s father and we all wondered when she might blow. Keeping it all on the inside doesn’t always work.

Arizona though finally get her girl after some steamy words in the elevator.

Meredith leaves the hospital and holds Riggs' hand. A simple gesture but a very big step for her.

While mostly filler episodes and the standard run of the mill Grey’s drama I was happy to see some story points concluded as we head into the final two.

So what are your thoughts regarding this season as we head to its close?

Can reconciliations be made?
