00:30 - Happy! - Bobby Moynihan Joins Syfy Pilot as Happy the Horse

BOBBY MOYNIHAN CAST AS TITULAR VOICE OF HAPPY FOR SYFY!

Pilot is from Universal Cable Productions

BOBBY MOYNIHAN will voice the title role of Happy the Horse -- a goofy little blue unicorn with a relentlessly cheerful personality. Together, Happy and Nick Sax (Chris Meloni) make the oddest of oddball buddy double acts.

Moynihan joins the previously announced cast led by Meloni, along with Lili Mirojnick, Patrick Fischler, Ritchie Coster and Zabryna Guevara.

Moynihan is in his ninth season as a cast member on “SNL” and is currently shooting a single-camera comedy pilot called “Me, Myself & I.” Additionally, he voices the role of Panda on the animated series “We Bare Bears,” Louie on “Ducktales” and Hal on “Nature Cat.”

Moynihan’s past film credits include “The Secret Life of Pets,” “Sisters,” “Staten Island Summer,” “Inside Out,” “Monsters University,” “Brother Nature,” “The Invention of Lying,” “Grown Ups 2” and “When in Rome.” He will next be seen in the upcoming films, “The Book of Henry,” directed by Colin Trevorrow and “Why We’re Killing Gunther,” with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Moynihan is a performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York. He is also a co-founder of the sketch group "Buffoons" with friends Charlie Sanders and Eugene Cordero. Moynihan graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1999. He hails from Eastchester, N.Y., and lives in New York City with his wife.

New York Times best-selling author Grant Morrison (“Batman,” “The Invisibles”) and Brian Taylor (“Crank,” “Gamer”) wrote and executive produced HAPPY!. Based on the graphic novel of the same name, originally written by Morrison and co-created with artist Darick Robertson, HAPPY! follows Nick Sax – an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man -- who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse. From Universal Cable Productions (UCP), Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Toby Jaffe of Original Film (The Fast and the Furious franchise) will also executive produce. Taylor also directed the pilot.

HAPPY! is one of four pilots currently in development at Syfy including the Superman prequel KRYPTON from Warner Horizon Television, THE HAUNTED and THE MACHINE both from Universal Cable Productions.

00:30 - Unsolved - Luke James, Aisha Hinds and LeToya Luckett Join USA Network Pilot

USA NETWORK PILOT ‘UNSOLVED: THE MURDERS OF BIGGIE AND TUPAC’ (WT) ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL CASTING INCLUDING THE ROLE OF SEAN “PUFFY” COMBS.

The new pilot from Universal Cable Productions has filled the roles of Sean “Puffy” Combs, Biggie Smalls’ mother Voletta Wallace, and wife of Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight, Sharitha Golden.

LUKE JAMES is set to play Sean “Puffy” Combs, the young and wildly successful founder of Bad Boy Records, the label of Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls.

James is a two-time Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter whose collaborative works include the co-writing of Britney Spears’ “Kill The Lights,” penning songs for Justin Bieber such as “That Should Be Me” and Chris Brown’s “Crawl.” His self-titled debut album “Luke James” was released in September 2014 by Island Records/New Age Rock Star Records and featured the Grammy-nominated single, “Options” featuring Rick Ross. James began his acting career with the drama film “Black Nativity” alongside Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett. Most recently, he starred in the successful miniseries “The New Edition Story.” He is repped by ICM Partners and JME Management.

AISHA HINDS has been tapped for the role of Voletta Wallace. The mother of Biggie Smalls, Wallace talked to her son every day before his death and, ever since, has never stopped seeking justice.

Hinds is best known for her role in the Emmy®-nominated series “All The Way.” Currently, Hinds can be seen in the upcoming second season of hit drama series “Underground," and will also co-star in the 10-part event series “Shots Fired.” She is repped by Greene & Associates Talent Agency.

LETOYA LUCKETT will play Sharitha Golden. In 1997, she was the estranged wife of Death Row records CEO Suge Knight and seemingly one of the only people at the time not intimidated by him.

Best known for her recurring roles in “Rosewood” and “Ballers,” alongside Dwayne Johnson, Luckett can also be seen on “Single Ladies,” “Treme,” and in the upcoming season of “Greenleaf.” Luckett began her musical endeavor as an original member of Destiny’s Child co-writing gold-certified singles “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Say My Name.” Her self-titled debut album “LeToya” was certified platinum and included the No. 1 hit “Torn,” while her 2009 collection featured her Top 10 single “Regret” with Ludacris. Luckett is set to release her highly-anticipated third album in 2017. She is represented by ICM Partners, Vincent Cirrincione Associates and Stone, Genow, Smelkinson, Binder & Christopher, LLP.

Previously announced cast includes newcomer Wavyy Jonez as Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls, Marcc Rose as Tupac Shakur, Josh Duhamel as Detective Greg Kading, Jimmi Simpson as Detective Russell Poole and Bokeem Woodbine as Officer Daryn Dupree.

13:20 - Iron Fist - Generating Higher Demand Then Jessica Jones Or Daredevil In Launch Week

The kung fu superhero show is generating higher demand than Marvel’s Daredevil or Jessica Jones did in their launch week, according to Parrot Analytics, and it’s falling just short of Luke Cage. That’s pretty good, given that Luke Cage was the 16th-hottest show across all platforms in 2016.

Third-party analysis is necessary because Netflix doesn’t share viewership data, except in selected cases. Parrot tracks viewership by evaluating streaming video, P2P-sharing, social chatter, and more. (The company assures us that it is able to distinguish between positive and negative social chatter to avoid potentially overrating a show like Iron Fist.)

Several studios chased this one hard. I’d heard 20th Century Fox — which made the 1967 Rex Harrison film and the redo films that starred Eddie Murphy — and Sony were in the mix at one point or another over the weekend.

"I've only read the first two episodes, but this whole season is going to be about summer fun," Candace Cameron Bure told E! News' Carissa Culiner at the Kids Choice Awards.

Filming has just started on the third installment of the Full House sequel series. The first two seasons came out within the same calendar year, with season two being shot over the summer and featuring a variety of holidays (hence Christmas in July). Production on the third season was delayed after Jodie Sweetin broke her ankle and tibia after hopping a fence to get a toy her kid had thrown over.

"They have to write it in. It's going to be written in," Cameron Bure said.

"There's no hiding that I can't walk," Sweetin said. "And I can only be a houseplant in so many episodes where I'm just stuck somewhere."

00:30 - Heathers - Moving from TVLand to Be Launched on Paramount Network
Thanks to johnhelvete for the heads up.

TV Land's Alicia Silverstone comedy American Woman and hourlong Heathers reboot, both developed by Cox, are moving to the upstart Paramount Network, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Representatives for Paramount Network and TV Land declined comment.

Paramount Network, which is being rebranded from Spike TV, will launch in January with what is expected to be a slate of programming from various Viacom-owned networks. The female-leaning American Woman is also expected to undergo pilot reshoots to add a male lead who will heavily recur.
The push to the Paramount Network is starting with TV Land’s anticipated “Heathers” reboot and the new comedy “American Woman” moving to the newly re-branded network, Variety has confirmed.

Paramount Network, which is expected to launch in January, is the result of re-branding Spike TV. The re-launched channel will include both scripted and unscripted programming, shifting content from a portfolio of Viacom brands, including TV Land, BET, Comedy Central, MTV, Nick Jr., and Nickelodeon.

TV Land prez Keith Cox was named president of Paramount Network, and will head up development and programming for both networks. With Cox at the top of Paramount Network, it’s no surprise that two of TV Land’s yet-to-be-launched shows would move over to the new cabler.

03:00 - MOVIES: The Matrix - Reboot in the Works at Warner Bros

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros is trying to see if there is more life in The Matrix beyond the three groundbreaking films written and directed by the Wachowskis. This is all in the exploratory phase and it’s unclear if the Wachowskis, then Andy and Larry but now Lily and Lana Wachowski, or the original cast will be involved, or producer Joel Silver. Right now, I hear the studio is likely to create a writers’ room of scribes to figure out the best possible way to relaunch the franchise.
Source:

It’s still not clear what shape the project will take, but sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros. is in the early stages of developing a relaunch of The Matrix, the iconic 1999 sci-fi movie that is considered one of the most original films in cinematic history, with Zak Penn in talks to write a treatment.

Sources say there is potential interest in Michael B. Jordan to star, but much must be done before the project is ready to go.

At this point, the Wachowski siblings, who wrote and directed the original and its two sequels, are not involved and the nature of their potential engagement with a new version has not been determined. Certainly, Warners would want the two filmmakers to give at minimum a blessing to the nascent project. The studio had no comment.
