Fresh off the Boat - Living while Eddie - Review: Drying rack disobedience

This week Fresh off the Boat aired in a special timeslot but still managed to deliver a strong episode. This week Jessica was struggling with Eddie once again while Louis and Emery went head to head for a role in an infomercial.

Fresh off the Boat premiered a bit over 2 years ago and way back then they've captivated their audience by introducing the complicated but hilarious relationship between their rebellious son and the stricken Asian mother. Two years later they delivered another episode featuring Eddie's and Jessica's relationship and I loved it just as much I loved the pilot 2 years ago. Everything started with Jessica falsely accusing Eddie of eating her papaya and Evan discovering they have a functioning dishwasher and not a drying rack. Evan's being that ecstatic by them having a dishwasher was simply hilarious, Ian Chen is such a little scene stealer love his mini tantrums.

Jessica feared she was raising a bad and lazy child and it was getting to her. I loved the moment when Eddie mentioned Jessica being biased towards him and blaming him for every bad thing that happened in the house. Her mini flip out following his counter attack was priceless and once again Constance was brilliant delivering her lines with a fitting body language and hilarious facial expressions.

The following scenes at the record shop showcased everything I loved about Fresh off the Boat, the connection between mother and son peaked as Jessica realized that Eddie was a good son and brother. Maybe just not the way she wanted him to be but his core and his essence were good and him being different than the rest of the family doesn't change that. The two of the putting Howey into his place was a neat cherry on top of the episode.

Meanwhile, the remaining two Huang men, Louis and Emery spent some quality time at Cattleman's Ranch, where a Tv crew was shooting an infomercial. The interaction between Emery and Louis was really entertaining and well written, especially Emery's obvious manipulation of Louis moments before he was supposed to shot his lines. Emery eventually took over Louis' role as Salat eater but had his own issues acting out the lines. I loved how they wrapped us around with Louis smooth speech, just for Emery to turn the tables and accuse Louis of trying to sabotage him as well. As often said this season, I really grew to love Emery this season and I look forward to his individual stories week after week.

Eventually both, Louis and Emery, were made fun of in the infomercial concluding the episode on a very positive note. I hope you enjoyed the episode as much as I did, feel free to share your thoughts and opinions in the comment section down below
