When Max sees a text about a "baby" from Bobby’s ex girlfriend, Jessica, she and Han pose as an engaged couple so that she can get some information from Jessica at her bridal store. After a hilarious meeting with Jessica where Max and Han ended up kissing, they find out from Bobby that he and Jessica have a cat named “Baby” together and that’s what she was referencing in her text. Meanwhile, Caroline accidentally convinces Bobby’s sister, Denise, to quit her job without realizing that her boss is Teresa, Bobby's mother. Denise then hires herself as a waitress at the M&C Dessert Bar, but before she does too much damage, Bobby convinces her to return to her job working for their mom. More importantly, he says “I love you” to Caroline after the debacle is solved and she says it back.
Now to move on to another amazing (albeit, fake) couple: Max and Han! Wow, the two of them meeting Jessica was COMEDY. GOLD. Between that kiss, and Han’s preplanned wedding dreams, and Max’s aggressiveness towards Jessica, that scene had me laughing for a few minutes straight. It also was great because it called back to how Max is still dealing with feelings from her break up with Randy. She is now even more distrustful of men and although that is really sad, this episode helped show Max that not all men break hearts. My only complaint with this storyline is the use of Jessica. After watching episode 17, I was SO excited to meet Jessica and see a potential showdown between her and Caroline. Unfortunately, she was kind of a footnote in her own introduction scene because of how hilarious the Max and Han fake wedding material was. This is a pretty minor problem since she is such a minor character, but I was still a little disappointed because 2 Broke Girls spent an entire episode talking about how amazing she is.
Other random things I liked in the episode: The gang watching all of this go down like it was their new TV show was great. This episode had so much storyline development and if they tried to add a Sophie/Oleg or Earl storyline, it would’ve felt rushed and overstuffed. Having them watching everything from the sidelines while throwing in sassy comments was a hilarious and smart way to use them. Also, I loved the writer’s decision to split up Max and Caroline this week. So often we see them on adventures together, so it was refreshing to see them split up and deal with separate components of the overarching storyline.
Overall Grade:
A. A hilarious episode with a very special milestone in Caroline and Bobby’s relationship. Plus, Han and Max kissed. That’s incredible.
Favorite Quotes:
Han: I’m flattered I was your first choice.
Earl: Man, she asked me 5 people ago. I think she was down to you and a broom, and the broom was busy.
Jessica: We’re not here to talk about me. We’re here to talk about you and (pointing to Han) your affair.
Max: Oh, I’m definitely going to have one.
Caroline: I love you, Max. (Long silence) Okay, we’re not there yet.
What were your thoughts of this episode? Did you love it as much as Bobby and Caroline love each other? Let me know in the comments!
