The Middle - Pitch Imperfect - Review

Feb 6, 2017

Welcome back, viewers! I feel like it's been a while since we've had an episode, but The Middle is brand new tomorrow so we need to review the last episode, Pitch Imperfect.

In this episode Mike and Frankie try to help their kids with their problems especially Brick and Axl. Mike and Frankie casually ask Axl what his plan is for after graduation, and it turns out he has no plan. He goes to the school job fair and everyone there is at least a junior. He freaks out, and he begs his dad to get him a job interview. I was very impressed that Axl actually dressed up and looked professional for this interview. Unfortunately he doesn't get the job and has a complete meltdown in his living room. He confesses to his parents that he has no job prospects! I loved that Mike and Frankie made things worse by telling Axl they spent the money from the diaper business on Sue.

Mike does give Axl some good advice. Axl's 22. Life's going to kick him around a lot, but things do have a way of working out. I think everyone has gone on a job interview and felt confident about it only to be crushed when they don't get it. It's happened to me, too. Mike was trying to make Axl understand that he can't get down every time he doesn't get what he wants or hopes for, and I think he was able to get through to him.

Brick's problems this week are all about Cindy. Cindy thinks he spends too much time reading, and he's worried that he won't be able to continue the relationship. Reading is too important to him to give up. Luckily, Cindy hasn't read his favorite book, and he wants her to read it and enjoy it. I think Brick did this as a test because if Cindy didn't love the book, I don't think they would have been able to stay together. But Cindy loves it, and they end the episode reading on the couch together. These two are so weird, but I actually really like their relationship.

Sue had her own issues this week, but she didn't consult her parents for advice like her brothers. Brad joins her school's acapella group (I love that Brad's back!), but things don't go as planned. The acapella group is beyond terrible! They can't sing or dance! To make things worse Sue wants to compete against sororities and fraternities. Before the group performs, a few of them bail and a few get insulted by Brad leaving only Brad and Sue. The two try to sing all the parts and are almost booed off the stage. Then they change it up and just sing together, and it's not terrible. In the future Sue may want to rethink competitions- I think we've all seen how they turn out!

What did you all think of Pitch Imperfect? Are you glad Brad is back? How to you feel about Axl graduating soon? Let me know in the comments section! And make sure to tune in tomorrow, February 7th, for an all new episode!
