Welcome back to another week of The Middle. I really enjoyed "Ovary and Out" and that is because it had more of that Sue/Axl bonding that I love! There was a little something for everyone this week as Brick and Mike and Frankie all had quality story lines as well.
Let's start with my favorite: Lexie and Sean. The reason it was my favorite was because of Axl and Sue's reactions. I couldn't quite tell if they were jealous or if they thought Lexie and Sean acted ridiculous, or both, but I loved it. I cracked up at the looks Axl and Sue had after Sean ran and jumped over people just to sit next to Lexie at dinner. The looks they had throughout dinner were hilarious.
I thought Sean was trying way too hard, and I agreed with Axl that the Snow White reference was lame. I enjoyed the talk that Sue and Axl had at her apartment after dinner. Ultimately it doesn't matter what Axl and Sue think because Sean and Lexie decide that their relationship isn't going to work.
I do question if The Middle is moving toward a Lexie/Axl pairing. A few weeks ago there were some hints, and I do think Axl was jealous of Sean this week. I'm all for it if it gets rid of April. It was very nice not seeing her this week.
Frankie learns this week that her ovaries are shriveled up, and she can't have any more kids. At first I was confused because why would she want more children? She can't handle the ones she has. And it seems that Mike doesn't understand either as he says and does all the wrong things. He even volunteers to watch a baby for the night. Frankie isn't happy and she tells Mike that she doesn't want more kids. She was just upset that she doesn't have the option anymore. I think this made her feel old.
I liked watching them drive the baby around and reminiscing about driving their kids around town when they were little. I thought it was sweet that Mike told Frankie that she gave them three good kids. The experience does change Mike as he isn't annoyed when Sue calls him to chat. He actually listens to what she says and gets invested in the conversation.
This episode also showed more of Brick's font club. He's excited that people are coming to the club, but it's just for community service credit. There is one student, Gibson, who thinks he knows more about fonts than Brick, and unfortunately Brick runs into him at the grocery. The two pull feminine hygiene products off the shelf to see who can name the font the fastest. This was funny and a bit weird. If I saw that in the grocery store I would leave. Brick does lose the competition and makes an announcement telling the club that Gubson will now be the president. However, Gibson is in eighth grade so he can't be president. His announcement "I don't even go here!" reminded me of Mean Girls.
What did you all think of Ovary and Out? Do you think Axl and Lexie should be a couple? Did you think Mike and Frankie spending time with a baby was funny? Do you hope Sue gets a boyfriend soon? Let me know in the comments!
