Girl Meets World - There Are Early Talks Underway to Continue the Series Elsewhere
Thanks to A for the heads up.
“There are talks underway, but we’re at the very very beginning stages,” series creator Michael Jacobs tells TVLine. “And I can tell you it’s because of the audience’s reaction to the cancellation that there is interest in other places. For anyone in show business, if you ask them why they’re doing something and they say they’re doing it for themselves, they won’t sustain long. Those that answer ‘We’re doing it for the audience’ and mean it, they sustain.”

MOVIES: Green Lantern Corps - David Goyer and Justin Rhodes to Write Script
EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros and DC are moving aggressively on a new screen version of Green Lantern. They’ve set David Goyer to write the script with Justin Rhodes for Green Lantern Corps, with Goyer producing and with DC heads Geoff Johns and Jon Berg exec producing. The new version is described as Lethal Weapon in space, and it’s based on a comic book origin story. The focus will be on two characters: Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The latter is an African American Marine sniper before he joined the Lantern Corps and the story very much focuses on his relationship with Jordan and the Corps. The story was conceived by Goyer and Johns.
It’s unclear whether the studio would reengage with Ryan Reynolds, who starred in the disappointing first film and is soaring with Deadpool and working on its sequel. They will get a script and move quickly to get a director, so this project now has a beating heart.

MOVIES: Ocean’s Eight - James Corden Joins Cast
EXCLUSIVE: James Corden will moonlight from his hosting duties on The Late Late Show With James Corden to take a supporting role in Ocean’s Eight, the Gary Ross-directed caper spinoff for Warner Bros and Village Roadshow Pictures. Sandra Bullock stars with Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter.
It’s s good part, and a good opportunity to scout for future Carpool Karaoke candidates. As the group plans and executes a heist in New York, Corden will play an insurance investigator who grows suspicious of them. Corden is certainly in high demand, also hosting the upcoming Grammy Awards next month. On the movie front, he most recently provided a voice in Trolls and costarred with Maggie Smith in The Lady In The Van, and before that Into the Woods and Begin Again. He’s also voiced roles in the upcoming The Emoji Movie and Peter Rabbit.

From vampires and witches to psychics and hitmen, Midnight is a mysterious safe haven for those who are different. As the town members fight off outside pressures from rowdy biker gangs, ever-suspicious cops and their own dangerous pasts, they band together and form a strong and unlikely family. Jesser will play Shawn Lovell, Creek’s (Sarah Ramos) protective father.

MOVIES: Disney's Nicole - Anna Kendrick in Talks to Star in Female Santa Claus Movie
Anna Kendrick is in negotiations to star in Disney's Nicole, a tale of a female Santa Claus.
Marc Lawrence is attached to direct, while Suzanne Todd, who worked with the studio on Alice in Wonderland, is producing.
Lawrence also wrote the script, whose details are being kept on ice. The twist, however, is that it is a holiday family adventure that centers on the coming of a female Santa.
Disney has done well in the past with tales of old St. Nick, having a hit franchise with the Tim Allen-starring Santa Clause trilogy, which launched in 1994.
Todd is currently in production on Magic Camp, a family movie for Disney.
Sources say Nicole is not a musical, but Kendrick may end up indulging her musical side.

In the Heat Of the Night - TV Series Being Redeveloped with The People v. O.J. Writer
In The Heat Of The Night, a present-day drama series based on the Oscar-winning 1967 United Artists feature, is back in development with a new writer.
Joe Robert Cole, writer-producer on FX’s People v. O.J. Simpson, is writing the new series adaptation, which is being developed internally at MGM Television.
MGM TV previously had set up an In the Heat of the Night TV series — described as an exploration of character and race set in modern-day Mississippi – at Showtime in 2014 with The Help filmmaker Tate Taylor writing and directing. Taylor is staying on as a director/executive producer on the new incarnation, along with producer Warren Littlefield (Fargo) who also had been involved in the project from the get-go, and John Norris. Decades ago as an NBC executive, Littlefield developed the movie’s previous TV series adaptation.

Good Girls Revolt - Officially Dead
Good Behavior - Season Finale - Post Mortem Interviews
Thanks to BearBlue for the heads up.
Yahoo TV: We’ve watched Letty imagine seeing Javier multiple times when he wasn’t really there, like at the diner in the penultimate episode. When he comes up the steps and into the house at the end of the finale, a part of me was bracing for it not to be real.
Chad Hodge: That was exactly what I wanted you to feel. It’s like, is he really there? We had it in the pilot, when she imagines stealing his wallet but then she didn’t steal his wallet. And then, in the episode where she goes home for her high school reunion, she imagines him several times — coming up behind her at the kitchen sink, and kissing her. Then, as you said, with the milkshake at the end of Episode 9 at the diner. Here, it’s like another one of those “he’s not going to really be there,” and then he is.

So this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Sean, right?
No, no, no. He is definitely a part of Jacob’s life going forward, and Letty’s going to have to deal with that and figure it out. He will be back for sure. Letty says, Your dad and I will try to get along in some way, she says that to Jacob — and as much as she doesn’t want to do it, she’s going to have to. It’s a very extreme version of divorced parents with kids, but you have to figure it out — and they’re going to have to figure it out.
We’re very curious what Sean’s life looks like now — his lady, any other children… Does that come into play in Season 2?
It does — and it’s going to be very, like the rest of “Good Behavior,” dark and funny at the same time. What Sean’s whole world is, is something I cannot wait to write about.

18:15 - Churchmen - French Faith-Based Drama Being Adapted at Netflix
Thanks to Millie for the heads up.
Oz creator Tom Fontana is back at work with a Netflix series adapted from french faith-based drama Ainsi Soient-Ils, which ran for 3 seasons from 2012 to 2015 on channel Arte and won the Séries Mania Best Series Award in Paris twice and the Best Film Award winner at the International Catholic Film Festival.
Churchmen is about five young men from very different backgrounds and with different motivations for leaving the lives they’ve known who enter seminary in New York, discovering an institution where ambition and discord could cast a shadow over their strongest belief. Tom Fontana (Borgia, Copper, Homicide) is producing the project through his Levinson/Fontana Company alongside Netflix and Asylum Entertainment, with James Yoshimura, who worked on Homeland & Treme, William Powell and K.C. Warnke. Fontana may have heard about Ainsi Soient-ils for the first time when he came to the Series Mania festival in Paris in 2013. Shooting should start as soon as February in New York. The number of episodes is unclear at this time.

02:30 - Timeless - Brandon Barash Cast as Ernest Hemingway
Thanks to Tyler for the heads up.
The actor will guest-star on NBC’s time-hopping drama Timeless as American novelist Ernest Hemingway, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Barash appears in Episode 14, which is set in “Paris during the Jazz age after World War I,” executive producer Eric Kripke tells TVLine. When viewers meet the future novelist, he is a budding newspaper reporter with a sense of adventure, still recovering from the brutality of the war with the help of a strong drink… or two.

00:20 - Riverdale - Sabrina the Teenage Witch Likely to Appear
Thanks to Emily for the heads up.
Yes, the character made famous by the ABC sitcom and actress Melissa Joan Hart, was actually originally an Archie comics creation (Sabrina is from Greendale, a town close to Riverdale). “Some people don’t even know that Sabrina is in the Archie family,” says Riverdale executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Glee). “There is absolutely a universe where Sabrina pops up in Riverdale or one town over in Greendale. Certainly, the priority is launching Riverdale and making sure that show is as good as it can be and as embraced as we want it to be.”
Adds Aguirre-Sacasa, “I’ll just tease that Sabrina has potential with a capital P.”

03:30 - 24: Legacy - EP Shares Details on Tony Almeida's Return
Thanks to Darthlocke4 for the heads up.
Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) won’t need an introduction to at least one character when he makes his highly anticipated return in the 24 spin-off.
Premiering after Super Bowl LI, 24: Legacy centers on ex-Army Ranger Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins), who teams up with the outgoing director of the Counter Terrorist Unit, Rebecca Ingram (Miranda Otto), to thwart an a terrorist attack on American soil. But Rebecca’s already hectic day will get even more complicated when Tony, a former CTU agent she has encountered in the past, enters the picture.
“Tony’s dark past comes back to haunt Rebecca in some way,” executive producer Manny Coto tells EW about the fan favorite’s appearance. “What’s fun about it is that it’s not just, ‘Hey, I’m Tony Almeida.’ There’s a previous relationship — not necessarily a romantic relationship — with one of our characters.”

22:40 - MOVIES: Mute - First Look Photos & Synopsis/Info
Thanks to Darthlocke4 for the heads up.
Note: Please click the EW link to view additional photos and read more information.
For years, the director has talked about wanting to make his sci-fi thriller Mute, and now the project is finally coming to life. EW has an exclusive look at the first three images from the film, introducing Alexander Skarsgård as the tight-lipped protagonist and Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux as two sketchy surgeons.
Set in Berlin in 2052, Mute follows a bartender named Leo (Skarsgård) who lost the ability to speak after a childhood accident. After his beloved girlfriend Naadirah (played by Seyneb Saleh) unexpectedly disappears, he sets out on a noir-ish quest to find her, diving deep into the city’s seedy, neon underworld. (Jones has said before that his futuristic version of Berlin draws influence from both Blade Runner and Casablanca.)
The only recurring clue that Leo finds is a pair of wise-cracking American surgeons: Rudd, wearing a hell of a mustache, and Theroux, wearing a hell of a wig.
Netflix signed on to distribute Mute last year, and it’s expected to hit the streaming service later in 2017.

20:00 - The Haunted - Steve Kazee, David Alpay and DeVaughn Nixon Join Syfy Pilot
Shameless grad Steve Kazee, Vampire Diaries alum David Alpay and DeVaughn Nixon (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) have joined the cast of the drama pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Ordered to pilot in September, The Haunted is a supernatural horror-drama about four siblings who reunite following their parents' deaths. As they try to overcome their fractured personal relationships, they find that they also must face the literal ghosts from their past in order to survive.
Kazee will play Ellis, the oldest of the Bradley siblings and the closest to their parents' unusual line of work. He is a quiet man, and a lifelong bachelor, whose complicated past comes to light following his parents' deaths. Kazee, whose other credits include his Tony-winning performance in the Broadway musical Once and a two-episode arc on Nashville, is repped by D2 Management and APA.
Alpay will portray Virgil, the second oldest Bradley sibling. He is a highly motivated corporate litigator and family man whose life unravels following his parents' funeral. Also known for his roles in Quantico, The Borgias and The Tudors, the actor is repped by APA, The Characters Agency, The Green Room Management and Barnes Morris.
Nixon steps into the role of James Terry, a detective in the Savannah Police Department who, along with his partner, investigates the strange circumstances surrounding the Bradley deaths. Described as an inquisitive man, James operates on instincts, listening and noticing things others may not. The actor, whose credits also include The Bodyguard, Terminator 2 and Prom, is repped by Elevate Entertainment, SDB Partners and Ginsburg Daniels.

19:30 - MOVIES: Cars 3 - First Look at Pixar's New Millenials
Thanks to Emily for the heads up.

It’s mobile millennials vs. mid-size cars with midlife crises in Disney-Pixar’s next movie, Cars 3, the second sequel in the billion-dollar franchise, skidding into theaters this June.
If you caught that cryptically combustible teaser trailer back in November, you’ll know that a major shake-up is in store for pro racer Lightning McQueen (voiced once more by Owen Wilson). In round three, a disastrous brush with mortality spurs the once-great athlete to reexamine his tenure on the track.
“McQueen is not the young hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in Cars 1,” says first-time Pixar director Brian Fee, a storyboard artist on the first two Cars films and the man entrusted by story guru/Cars whisperer John Lasseter to take the wheel. “He’s in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that’s getting up there. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age. He’s looking in the mirror and realizing, ‘I’m 40 years old,’ and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever.”

19:30 - MOVIES: Cult of Chucky - Teaser Trailer
Thanks to OUATFanatic for the heads up.
Cult of Chucky will catch up with the younger Dourif’s character at an asylum for the criminally insane where she has been confined for the past four years and is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when Nica’s psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.
