Happy New Year Loyals!

Unfortunately we didn’t get two new episodes this week. For some reason I thought we would! But I’m happy to say this episode filled that void for me, because ROBERT’S BACK!

Viewers were in for a very Robert-centric episode and I really enjoyed it. I have to admit Len and Helena fainting was a little too over the top for me, but given all they had been through over the previous months that Robert was away, I would say it’s justified.

Obviously Liam isn’t there for the family reunion, as he is too busy with Kathryn. In an awkward moment Jasper has to go and fetch him. Paying homage to the first episode where Liam runs through the palace to hear the news about Robert’s death, he does the same again. Nice touch there, it really shows the growth the show.

Robert barely has anytime to breathe before Cyrus lets it slip that Simon is dead. He then is briefed by James Hill and learns about the events that took place while he was thought to be dead. Through his exchanges with Helena it is clear to see that he is the apple of his mother’s eye. He understands her mischievous ways and he will always be that shoulder that she desperately needs to lean on.

Cyrus now knowing that his days of being King are numbered, drowns his sorrows in alcohol. He seems to have lost that fire that we all have come to love in our Cyrus. However an unexpected visitor restores that passion and will that Cyrus needed to gain back. This unexpected visitor is his ex-wife and the twin’s mother. She was exactly what I was expecting, flashy like the twins and a spitfire like Cyrus. They only had a brief encounter, but I’m hoping she’ll become a more prominent figure in Cyrus’s storyline. I’m getting tired of hearing about Violet, so let’s get the old Cyrus back.

Len and Jasper were so utterly cute this week, as they were trying to tell Robert that they are together. It makes me so happy to see Len happy. I love seeing Jasper squirm and that line about the accents, I mean come on already choose one and stick to it! Now Robert doesn’t seem to be too welcoming towards the romance, but he does want Len to be happy so hopefully he won’t interfere. I don’t understand why she values Robert opinion so much. I also never knew that the twins weren’t that close before Robert’s death. No one ever mentioned it, so I feel like this another plot device to fuel the fire between Liam and Robert. Not only will be they be fighting over Kathryn’s affection, but Len’s as well.

Robert being back is obviously going to be the hardest for Liam, not just because of Kathryn, but because of the enormous strides he’s made to become his own person. He was always standing behind his family’s shadows and no one ever believed in him, till last episode. Cyrus is right he’s going to go back to being invisible and it seems Robert is going to make sure of that. Just watching his facial expressions and they way he interacted with Liam in comparison to others, you could see how much Robert envies Liam. It seems that Liam is the new Cyrus, hopefully he wont be as evil. Maybe the two could team up?

The press conference went as expected, because we saw Robert practicing on the beach. I swear he’s like a Royal robot. I’m not going to lie, I do not love his character, maybe because I don’t like change and I’ve come to love the group dynamic in the show, but something is off with him. He’s definitely suffering and I’m sure that will be explored some more, but even in the flashbacks he just seems so condescending and arrogant.

Side notes:
-Cyrus’s finale line was classic Cyrus. Glad to have the old Cyrus back.
-I’m glad Len and Jasper are official and still writing letters to each other.
-It’s clear to see Kathryn definitely wants Liam. Hopefully they won’t drag out the love triangle story line. I like them together.
-Also can we get rid of Wilhelmina? I don’t understand why they made her a series regular. Liam will probably date her out of pity now or to make Kathryn jealous.
-How awkward was that reunion between Robert and Kathryn?
-Every time Helena says FML I die of laughter. I guess that’s her catchphrase?

I also promise to be posting my reviews sooner, starting next week!
