We open to Rosewood and Tawnya on the beach with Kayla. It looks like a perfect family moment. The scene is accompanied by sad music. Hornstock is screaming on his phone and looks super upset. Then, there’s a guy we haven’t met before, he’s shaving and getting ready for the day. As he grabs his police uniform off the hanger, the camera cuts to a man tapped up in the bathtub. Uh oh! Something bad is about to go down!
Slade is pumped that he got a candy bar out of the machine. He says that it’s a sign that it’s going to be a good day.
What? Villa goes to visit the Dr. Webb in the morgue. She didn’t show up to the opera. Dang! Villa bailed on the ME! She’s in a funny mood!
Villa and Rosie meet in the elevator. He’s on cloud nine and apparently, he smells of cocoa butter.
EEK! Rosie calls Tawnya and Kayla his, “family.” Villa looks upset, she keeps ringing her hands.
Slade is giving a group of students a tour at the police station. He introduces two officers, the first works in the evidence room, the second pulls a gun on Slade. Uh oh! There’s another man with a gun! He looks scary! He disarms Villa.
Uh oh! The bad guy pretending to be a cop just blew up the candy machine! What in the world does this guy have planned and what does he want?
There’s a lot of activity outside of the police station. Police cars, ambulances, and reporters.
Hornstock is outside and he’s demanding to know what’s going on and states that he is not leaving. Agent Harrows, the FBI’s hostage negotiator, isn’t taking him seriously and she blows him off, after making fun of his name. What a jerk!
The hostages have had to take off their shoes and dump their phones in a bucket. The main guy hands out numbers to each of the hostages. He and Slade have a background, but Slade doesn’t appear to recognize him.
Agent Harrows calls up to Owen, the bad man with the gun. Owen isn’t having it and doesn’t want to negotiate. He asks for a man to be delivered to him. One of the officers tries to attack Owen, he is slammed to the ground and possibly stabbed.
Owen tells everyone that the entire police station is rigged to blow. He said that bombs are set to go off every twelve minutes unless he inputs a code. Eek!
Hornstock is devastated. Poor, Ira!
Owen is looking through the building for other possible hostages. He heads down to the morgue. Uh oh! I hope they don’t kill Dr. Webb! That would be terrible!
Owen’s buddy is holding everyone at gunpoint upstairs. He looks like he’s tweaking out. They have divided the males and the females to different sides of the room, except Captain Slade, who is handcuffed to a chair.
OH NO! Owen asks if there’s a doctor in the house. Rosewood says, “Yeah, here!” Owen tells him, “Good, because 51 just got shot.” Guess who’s number 51? DR. WEBB! Oh my gosh! This is so intense!
Rosewood helps Dr. Webb, who has been shot in the leg. It’s too dangerous to take out the bullet right now, so they’ll have to come up with another plan. Villa wants to help but Dr. Webb screams at her that he doesn’t want her right now. Ouch!
It turns out that Walter, the man Owen requested be brought to the police station, is Owen’s brother who is currently in jail. Hornstock knows the Warden and asks Harrows if he can make the call. Harrows likes it, thank goodness!
Villa tries to sneak up on Owen. She gets caught.
We find out the background on Owen. He is upset that his brother is in jail. He allegedly had to take a plea bargain because they didn’t have any more money for legal fees. Captain Slade oversaw the case at the old precinct and per Owen not only was it mishandled, but things are personal between his family and Slade.
Slade won’t talk to Owen. Rosewood is in the room and trying to keep things calm. Rosewood suggests that Owen leaves the room and allows him to talk to Slade one-on-one to get the answers he wants about his brother. Amazingly, Owen is okay with this plan and leaves the interrogation room.
Slade says that Owen’s brother Walter, who is huge, was caught trying to cash a fake lottery ticket. When the police came to arrest him, he resisted. Slade thinks he was on something at the time. Owen said that Walter was set up.
Owen gets pissed and shatters the glass in the interrogation room. He said that his brother is sick and that no one listened to him. He said he went to talk to Slade and that Slade barely looked up from his desk. Owen says, “Now everyone is going to pay for your mistake.”
OH MY GOSH! Villa gets the gun away from Owen’s friend and then demands that the woman she has been talking to for most of the morning get up out of her wheelchair. SHE’S IN ON IT? WHAT? I did not see that coming, did you? Man, Todd Harthan and the Rosewood writers are INSANELY talented!
Astrid, the woman in the wheelchair, is Owen’s girlfriend, is totally in on it. But Villa is too smart, she gets her gun too.
Owen has a gun to the back of Slade’s head. Villa has two guns in hand, one pointed at Owen and the other at his buddy and his girlfriend.
Slade tells Owen to let everyone go. He says that he’s the one Owen wants.
Rosewood tells Villa that he believes Owen and that there’s another way to handle things.
The phone rings. Agent Harrows says that she thinks his brother got a bad deal and that she wants to help get things cleared up. She offers to make a call to the DA, instead of bringing Walter to the station. This irritates Owen. He said his next request was going to be to bring Beaumont Rosewood down to the station, but he’s already there. WHHHHHAT? Does he want Rosewood to do? Diagnose his brother? Figure out what really happened? Oooh, the plot thickens!
Owen threatens to blow everyone up if Villa doesn’t drop the guns. She hesitates, but puts them down. Owen’s friend and girlfriend quickly retrieve them.
One of the hostages, a teenager, has diabetes and his blood sugar is dropping rapidly. Owen ends up letting the boy go to receive medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Rosewood and Dr. Webb ask Owen about Walter’s medical history. Owen says that his brother struggles to communicate his feelings with others and that he likes Superman. He says that they were too poor to go to the doctor growing up. The only recent medical history is that he had to go to the dentist three months ago because someone knocked his tooth out on the bus.
Slade interjects and says that a bounty hunter had to bring him in.
Pippy and TMI head to visit Butters, the bounty hunter. He thinks that Walter has a visual impairment. They call Rosie and conclude that Walter might have meningitis.
Slade is working his magic on Owen’s girlfriend, who has escorted him to the bathroom. She drops the gun. Slade walks toward her slowly and asks, “What’s Owen’s end game?”
SURPRISE! Owen’s girlfriend isn’t having it and she cocks the gun on Slade.
Rosewood gets out of the police station. Tawnya and Kayla are waiting for him. Tawnya tells Rosie that she and Kayla love him. Aw, they’re sweet. They are upset that he needs to go back in, but Tawnya seems to understand.
Hornstock warns Rosie about Walter. He says that Walter is dangerous.
Rosie walks over to the prison van to talk to Walter, but is shocked when he realizes that he isn’t there! What in the world? FBI Agent Harrows tells Rosewood that she never intended on brining Walter to the scene and that he’s still in jail. She tells Rosie that he is to go back in and tell Owen that his brother is in perfect condition. Yikes! This is not going to work out well…
Rosewood goes back into the building. He doesn’t lie to Owen; he tells him the truth, that he didn’t see his brother. Owen is pissed.
Owen’s friend, Duke, gets super agitated. He starts pointing his gun at the kids and saying that no one cares about Owen’s brother. He says that the only reason he took the job is because Owen promised him access to the evidence room. He told him he could take whatever he wanted.
Duke is getting more intense. Owen looks like he’s about to crack. A gun shot rings out and Villa tells Agent Harrow that there’s a man down.
Owen thanks Villa. Villa tells him that the FBI is going to enter the building soon. She said that she has another plan, but they need to do it her way. Owen looks scared.
Ugh, Agent Harrows is being mean to Hornstock. She says she looked him up and knows about his background. Harrows kicks Hornstock out of her space. She’s a terrible person!
Owen calls Agent Harrows phone line. He demands to speak to Hornstock. WINNER WINNER! SUCKS TO BE AGENT HARROWS’ DINNER!
Hornstock gets on the phone with Owen and works his magic. He tells him that he was late to work today because he and his younger brother got into a fight on the phone. He gives Owen background on the relationship with his brother. Owen wants him to get to the point. Hornstock says that even though he and his brother don’t speak, he still has family and they are all in there with him. He says that he will do whatever it takes to fix things, including making sure that Walter is brought to the police station. He makes Owen promise, that there will not be any more guns or bombs.
Time passes, Villa confides in Rosie that Dr. Webb told her he didn’t want her. Rosie has all the right words and says, “We all says things we don’t mean sometimes, Villa.”
Owen’s brother arrives at the police station. Rosewood asks for the officers to remove Walter’s chains so he can fully examine him. Walter doesn’t look right. Something is off. Rosewood is doing a great job keeping Walter calm. He brings up Superman and Walter smiles.
Rosewood listens to Walt’s lungs and his heart. He looks concerned. Walter blows his nose/cough and leaves a strange fluid behind. Is it blood? Rosewood steps back and says, “Walt, I just saved your life.”
Back in the police station, Rosewood is going over Walt’s symptoms with Owen, his girlfriend, and Villa. Rosewood tells Owen that his brother has cerebral spinal fluid leaking from his brain. Rosewood thinks that bacteria got into Walt’s bloodstream when he was at the dentist. It caused a terrible infection, which led to his brain leaking cerebral spinal fluid. Eek!
Rosewood explains that Walter’s serious health issues are directly responsible for his rage and atypical behavior. The doctor at the jail missed his medical condition, but luckily, Rosewood tells Owen that his brother will recover, it will just take a lot of time.
Owen is relieved, as is his girlfriend. Rosewood tells Owen that he needs to live up to his end of the bargain now.
Slowly, the hostages are released.
Butters, the bounty hunter, Pippy and TMI all hug. Pippy gives TMI a special look. Aw! I think that means that she still loves her the most and that they are going to get back together! What do you think?
Slade is out of the building and makes a bee line for Agent Harrows. He tears her to pieces and says that he’s glad Hornstock was there today. Boom!
Hornstock brings Owen out in handcuffs, his girlfriend is right behind him. He stops by the van holding Walter so he and Owen can see each other.
With tears in his eyes, Owen tells Walter that he needs to go away for a while. Walter says that he wants to go with him. This is so sad! Owen tells Walt that he needs to go alone, but that he wants Walter to put on his cape and fly away. Walter says, “I’ll put my cape on.” They hug and sob. FYI – I’m crying too.
The episode ends with an emotional bang!
Villa is in Dr. Webb’s hospital room. They are kissing and smiling. Looks like they are back on track.
Pippy and TMI are riding together in an elevator. Pippy grabs TMI’s hand and things quickly get hot and heavy. YES! I LOVE THEM TOGETHER!
Slade and Hornstock are alone in the police station. Slade tells Hornstock that he owes him one. Ira tells Slade that he’s a great captain. Aw!
Rosie heads home to see Tawnya and Kayla, he’s brought dinner with him. Uh oh, no one is home. Something is wrong! His safe is open and there’s nothing left in it! Tawnya has left him a note. NO WAY! She totally played him! In her letter, she says, “It wasn’t all an act,” and that, “She’s truly sorry.” OMG! She continues, telling Rosie that he was simply, “The right guy, at the right place, with the right bank account.” NOOOOOO! Rosewood signs into his bank account online. She totally cleaned him out and there is nothing left. Tawnya ends her note by thanking Rosie for everything that he did for her and by telling him that he was, “truly special.”
My Thoughts:
BEST. EPISODE. EVER.
Seriously, this episode was beyond incredible! The writers, director, and producers hit this out of the ballpark and then some!
We went on an emotional roller-coaster with all the main characters and the results were shocking! Brothers with an unbreakable bond, a new relationship with a rocky foundation, lovers who went their separate ways coming back together again, and the seemingly perfect relationship shattering into a million pieces. I seriously can barely process everything that happened in this episode, but I can tell you that from the acting to the storyline and everything in between was completely perfect!
This episode needs to win an award!
