    Ratings Breakdown:
Note: ESPN ran the “Rose Bowl” last night.

CBS topped this first Monday in 2017 based on the household overnights, besting No. 2 ABC by four-tenths of a rating point (or 11 percent). But the bigger story was the season-premiere installments of ABC’s “The Bachelor” opposite NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” with Arnold Schwarzenegger. “The Terminator” was not tough enough to beat romance reality TV style on “The Bachelor,” with ABC’s veteran first quarter time period filler at a 4.4 rating/7 share in the household overnights from 8-10 p.m. “Celebrity Apprentice” scored a 3.6/ 6.

Comparably, however, “The Bachelor” slipped by 19 percent from the season-opener on the year-ago evening (5.4/ 8 on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016). And “Celebrity Apprentice,” which took a break last season, was also on the downside, slipping by 28 percent from the 5.0/ 8 it scored in the overnights in its Monday 8-10 p.m. time period debut on Jan. 15, 2015. Let’s wait and see what the demos look like and how these two franchises fare next week minus the “Rose Bowl” in the competition.

Airing out of “Celebrity Apprentice” was the time period debut of NBC game show “The Wall” at a 3.1/ 5 at 10 p.m., which bested a primetime edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC (#3: 2.3/ 5) by 35 percent. “Scorpion” on CBS won the 10 p.m. hour with a 4.5/ 8.

Earlier in the evening on CBS was the sitcom rotation of “Kevin Can Wait” (#1: 4.6/ 7), “Man With a Plan” (#2: 4.1/ 6), “2 Broke Girls” (#2: 3.6/ 6) and “The Odd Couple” (#3: 3.4/ 5) from 8-10 p.m.

Elsewhere, Fox got minimal traction out of a two-hour airing of “MasterChef Celebrity Showdown,” which scored a 2.3/ 4 in the household overnights from 8-10 p.m. And The CW ducked the competition with an encore telecast of night two of the “iHeartRadio Music Festival,” which averaged a 0.6/ 1,
