This week’s episode opens at Eliza’s funeral. The Mayor is there and offers his condolences. Pride is also there and makes a promise to Garcia that he will bring him down.
Over at NOLA FBI HQ, Isler (I just figured out I’ve been spelling his name wrong in all of my reviews, sorry about that!) is packing up. He says that his work is done. The FBI wanted him to clear out the cartel and he’s done just that. Pride has other thoughts. Pride is pissed that Garcia is still roaming the streets as a free man. Isler reminds him that they do not have enough evidence to arrest him and bring him to trial.
Per Isler, the cartel’s assets are frozen, which has rendered the illegal organization unable to do anything. Pride pushes back. He asks Isler and asks why Garcia is still in town. Why didn’t he leave?
Isler says, “There’s nothing to be done. It’s over.” Pride is pissed! He tells Isler that the West family name is ruined as are their finances.
Isler is being insensitive. His feelings are hurt that Gregorio doesn’t want to play FBI with him anymore. He tells Pride that, “Garcia is a matter for the FBI now.” He basically threatens King and tells him to, “Leave Garcia alone,” or he’ll change his recommendation about allowing the NCIS New Orleans office to stay open. What. A. Jerk.
Aw, LaSalle picks up Percy from the airport. These two are great together! They recap what’s been going on over the past few days. Percy is bummed that Gregorio was fired.
Loretta finds Sebastian in the morgue. He’s majorly doubting himself and he feels terrible for not shooting the cartel man that almost killed Gregorio. He’s not sure he wants to go to agent training anymore or be an agent.
Pride gets the whole team gets together. He and Gregorio have been looking over Garcia’s files. They found out that Garcia makes a monthly payment to the tune of twenty million dollars. He’s not going to be able to make that payment, as all of his assets are currently frozen. The team concludes that he hasn’t left town or ran yet because he needs to pay the money or the cartel will kill him. He must have some secret money stashed away somewhere.
Pride and Gregorio offer to go the case alone. Pride doesn’t want the team to risk their careers. If they get caught, Isler could have everyone fired. Eek!
Patton and Sebastian are working their magic. They have hacked Isler’s files and found a bank account in the Cayman Islands with two million dollars in Garcia’s name.
Patton suggests that he might be trying to turn that two million dollars into twenty million dollars by betting on racehorses. He’s been spending a lot of time at the track recently.
Patton thinks that Garcia might try to cheat, to win the twenty million. His backstory is revealed, eight years ago, Patton became addicted to gambling. He used his computer skills to win bets and got busted. Pride convinced the powers that be to let Patton put his computer skills to good use and join the NCIS New Orleans team. Patton hasn’t gambled for eight years and is a little salty that the team pulled him out of his meeting for gambling addicts, causing him to miss his special eight celebration year cake.
Percy and LaSalle are at the races. They are watching Garcia, who doesn’t seem phased that he just buried his wife. Garcia is hanging out with the Mayor. I’ve always thought he was dirty, what about you?
Christopher has a plan. He sends Percy to get a bungee cord out of his car. He creates a makeshift slingshot and asks Percy for a rock. LaSalle sends the rock flying and it hits the horse on the rear, sending it running. Garcia’s “juiced up” horse doesn’t end up racing and his bet is scratched. He doesn’t win or lose any money. Garcia is pissed and runs out of the track. His buddy, the Mayor, is concerned.
The team has a plan. They want to pull a major con on Garcia. He is going to take control of the off-site betting devices then digitally delay the horse race to the site. That way, you can bet on the winning horse of a race that’s already been run.
Pride calls the Mayor and asks him to meet him at his bar. Pride tells him that he needs help bringing down Garcia. The Mayor acts like he barely knows Garcia. What a liar! Pride calls him out, says that he knows that Garcia and the Mayor shared a box at the horse races the day Eliza West was buried. Eek! Wonder if he’ll help King?
Looks like the Mayor offered to help. He and Garcia get into several cars and head off to an off-site betting parlor.
Loretta and Patton are at the betting parlor. Patton has everything under control. He’s got the entire place wired and under the control of his computer. Loretta is worried about Patton and his gambling addiction.
The Mayor and Garcia show up. Garcia is wary that someone in the betting parlor will know that the race already happened and he won’t get his twenty-million-dollar payout.
Gregorio is wearing a red dress and looks gorgeous!
The Mayor and Garcia approach Patton. The Mayor says that they are there to see Hooker. As Patton goes to get Hooker, a.k.a. Sebastian, Garcia threatens him, he says that he has a lot of dirt on the Mayor and if anything happens, he’s bringing him down. The Mayor looks super nervous. Wonder what Garcia has on him?
Aw, Sebastian is doing a great job undercover! He just restored my faith in him becoming an agent.
Ah! My sound keeps going out! I’m streaming it from the CBS app. Sorry if I missed anything!
With a threat from the Mayor, Hooker (Sebastian) agrees to let Garcia in on the “con.” Hooker tells him to come back tomorrow and he’ll help him with the bet. Garcia has other thoughts and tells Hooker that he needs to come with him. Uh oh!
Gregorio is watching the whole thing go down and she’s super nervous! She asks Pride if he wants her to abort. Pride says, “No, let it ride.”
Garcia tells Hooker that he still wants in, but he wanted to make sure he wasn’t setting him up first. Garcia tells Hooker that he’s, “betting his life.” He tells Sebastian that he’ll kill him if it doesn’t work out exactly how Sebastian promised it would.
Pride is freaking out. Gregorio and Loretta try to calm him down. They tell him that Sebastian could have opted out. Pride responds with, “The whole thing is too damn reckless!” Loretta puts Pride in his place. Because, Loretta. Gregorio places a nice wing-woman and says, “So are you in or are you out?”
Percy and LaSalle are sitting outside of Garcia’s house. They are ready to get Sebastian as soon as Pride gives the okay. Timing is critical.
Patton is worried. He and Sebastian are best friends. Loretta gives him a pep talk too.
Gregorio is there and watching the race. She’s ready to make a citizen’s arrest. She has another beautiful dress on.
One of Garcia’s men calls him and tells him who the winner of the race is, as they were watching it in real time. Garcia is ready to place his bet, but there’s a problem, his credit card isn’t working. Garcia agrees to wire the money to the betting parlor directly. He gives Loretta the routing number to his bank account, to which she says, “We’ve got it all, Pride.”
Patton flips a switch and sets the monitors to real time. He reaches for his gun, but Gregorio is too fast, she pulls hers and aims it directly at Garcia. Get ‘em, Gregorio!
Percy and LaSalle burst into Garcia’s house. They are worried about Sebastian, but guess what? He’s got everything under control. He jokes that he might not be good with a gun, but his golf swing is on point. Both of the bad guys are unconscious and sprawled out on the floor.
Gregorio puts Garcia in cuffs. Pride comes in and tells him that he was never going to, “let him get away with this.”
Garcia is in an interrogation room with Pride. Isler shows up. Garcia wants a deal. He says that he can give them, “Names, important names.” He says that he has dirt on politicians and cops, just to name a few. Isler says that he wants one name. Garcia gives them Mayor Hamilton’s name. Ooooooooh!
Pride and Isler are talking back at NCIS HQ. Looks like Isler agreed to witness protection for Garcia, as long as the names he gave him pan out. I don’t think Garcia has much time. The cartel is going to find him and kill him. Pride is angry. He wants Garcia behind bars.
Isler tells Pride that they’ve been watching Mayor Hamilton for a while now. He says that the names that Garcia gave them might be enough to get D.C. out his hair.
Isler is, “going back to D.C. with a big win.” He tells Pride that if there’s ever anything he can do for him, to let him know. Pride says, “Actually, there is.” Who wants to get it’s getting Gregorio on the team? *raises hand*
Pride waits outside of the courthouse for the Mayor. He asks Pride about Garcia. He wants to know why he was sent to witness protection. Pride wants to know how the Mayor knew about the details of Garcia’s deal. He won’t tell the Mayor any of the details. Mayor Hamilton is angry. He says that he helped bring Garcia down. He tries to guilt Pride by saying, “You owe me, Dwayne.” Pride tells him not to worry and that he’ll, “know soon enough.”
The team meets at Pride’s bar for drinks and good music. Good news, Sebastian is going to agent training! Patton joins and Pride has a surprise for him! He brings Patton a cake! Aw! They are all so sweet together! Percy asks Tammy a.k.a. Gregorio, what she’s going to do. Gregorio says she’s going to stay in New Orleans. She asks Pride if he needs a good bartender. He tells her no, but, he has a better offer! Isler got D.C. to approve another agent in the NCIS New Orleans office. Gregorio gets teary-eyed. She says, “I don’t know what to say.” Percy responds with, “You say yes, idiot!” Ha ha ha! Percy is hilarious!
Pride steps away to take a phone call. Uh oh, Garcia was killed mid-transport with a car bomb. Christopher joins Pride, he says, “It had to be the cartel, right?” After all, they were the only people that knew that the FBI had him, right? WRONG! Mayor Hamilton also knew that the FBI had Garcia. YIKES! What an intense cliffhanger to end things on! Did the Mayor have Garcia killed or was it the cartel?
*******
My Thoughts:
This show is pure magic! Seriously, if you haven’t watched this show from the beginning, I recommend going back and bingeing on it this weekend!
The team is clicking really well and even though I didn’t think Gregorio would ever be able to replace Brody, the writers have done a great job over the past few episodes carving a special place for her.
I’m excited to see how she is as a full time agent and how Sebastian does at agent training. He’s adorable and did a great job restoring my faith in him with that golf club!
Awesome show! A+++!
