Hell on the High Water opens with a group deep sea fishing. They think they’ve caught a 200-pound marlin… The excitement quickly turns to panic when they reel in a dead body instead of a big fish.
Looks like Gregorio is in a good mood on her first day as an NCIS agent. She greets Christopher and Percy, who are less then perky. Gregorio is looking for any signs of hazing, broken chair, rats in her desk, etc. LaSalle asks, “What kind of sociopaths did you work with at the FBI?”
Ha ha! They got her! Pride, Percy, and LaSalle all “shoot” Gregorio with confetti guns and a piece of pie. They also got her an official NCIS team hat. That’s cute.
Their celebration is cut short when Pride gets a text. Lieutenant Jay Neilson’s body has been fished out of the water and is on Loretta’s table.
LaSalle reminds Gregorio that she’s the newbie on the team and that she follow’s his directions when Pride is out of the office.
Eek! The victim insides were melted by some kind of intense heat. The victim just got back two days ago and has defensive wounds.
Loretta isn’t sure what caused the damage. Loretta is disappointed, with Sebastian at training, she has a “revolving door” of temps.
One of the temps, Miss Belcher, thinks the body has been torched. Before she can share what she thinks was the weapon used to torch the body, she leaves the room, go to vomit.
Over at training camp, Sebastian is struggling to climb a rope. He’s frozen in place. Uh oh! His Sargent crawls up the rope and releases the bottom part. He removes the mat at the bottom as well. Sebastian finally unfreezes and rings the bell. The Sargent isn’t happy with Sebastian.
Neilson and his wife were going to go on a cruise. The boat shows signs of fat melting, as in fat from Neilson’s body. Otherwise, the boat is incredibly clean. Someone tried to get rid of the evidence at the scene of the murder.
LaSalle has found something interesting. Someone has been using Neilson’s boat while he was overseas serving. The team thinks Neilson might have stumbled on the person using his boat and that person killed him.
Interesting! The GPS shows that the boat has been making trips to the oil rig.
The team brings Pride up to speed on what they found on Neilson’s boat. Sebastian calls in, he looks rough. Do you think he’ll make it through training? Sebastian thinks that a deep-sea torch was the tool used to torch Neilson’s body.
Gregorio and LaSalle visit the owners of the oil rig. Turns out security has been cut, due to falling oil prices. The woman who owns the company makes a disturbing discovery. The boat used by Neilson’s killer crossed their security perimeter on the same days the rig experienced leaks.
Pride takes a helicopter ride out to the oil rig. It’s not his first time on a rig. The actress who greets him is super familiar! Can anyone remember what other shows she’s been on? She reminds him to keep his eyes on the rig.
Pride meets with the man in charge of the rig, Hauser (?). Pride needs to speak to his crew about the “45” Super Sport,” because, “someone was using it illegally.” He tells Hauser that someone was murdered on the boat.
Patton has something! Darren Meade was Neilson’s brother and guess where he works? On the same oil rig that Pride is visiting. He refilled an oxygen tank the day of Neilson’s murder.
Pride talks to one of the guys on the rig. Is that Darren Meade? OH NO! He attacked Pride with the torch and someone else helped him! YIKES!
The bad guy is working with Hauser, Meade, and one other guy. They make a plan to kill Pride and toss him over the rig!
Pride has other plans. He grabs a flare gun, because one of the bad guys made him drop his real gun when they attacked him, and makes a run for it. His arm has been burnt really bad.
Percy figured out that there are three bad guys due to their cell phone activity. Uh oh! Hauser was in the military and he’s dangerous!
Pride finds the lady who welcomed him aboard. One of the bad guys finds him and starts shooting. Pride shoots the flare gun at him, allowing him and the woman to get away. They get to a safe place and he tells her that the bad guys killed a Navy Seal and he’s, “not going to let them get away with it!” Get ‘em, Pride!
The woman, Bonnie, is freaking out. Pride tells her that they need to let his team know that they are in danger. They are going to find the beacons on the ship and signal for help.
We cut over to Sebastian in training. His cell phone is going off, which allows him to get busted in the paint gun field. His Sargent tells him put his phone away and if he catches them again, he’s done.
Uh oh! Bonnie tells Pride that they are in danger and that the rig could blow!
Patton and Percy get Pride’s S.O.S. signal! Uh oh, Pride sent, “Rig is going to blow stay away.”
They don’t have long! EEK! What are they going to do?
Gregorio is pissed! She wants to get on the chopper! She and Christopher are fighting. Percy breaks up the fight. She reminds them that Pride is counting on them to figure out a way to save him and everyone on board the rig.
Interesting! There’s a fourth person involved in the job. Someone is remotely accessing the rig’s computers and is causing the issues that are putting the rig at risk of blowing up.
Before he and Bonnie can get everyone off the rig, the bad guys shoot at them.
Gregorio and LaSalle head back to the rig’s headquarters on land. The woman who owns the rig comes to a disturbing conclusion, her son is the only one with access to the rig’s security codes and is the one responsible for pumping the mud into the system.
The woman’s son left early, because he had “the flu.” LaSalle puts out a BOLO for him. Patton manages to shut down the mud being pumped in, but the damage has been done, it’s too late. They need a miracle to stop the rig from blowing.
Turns out they don’t need a miracle, they need Sebastian, who leaves training camp because his team is more important to him then a badge. The Sargent is pissed, but Sebastian doesn’t care! His team means everything to him.
Meanwhile, Pride and Bonnie are trapped in a room with the three bad guys outside. They are trying to break in with a blow torch. Sebastian calls and gives Pride instructions. He tells him he has eleven minutes to shut down the rig. Pride won’t leave, he doesn’t want another oil spill on the coast. It would be too devastating for the environment and the culture. Pride is such a good guy.
Pride leaves the safety of the room and comes face to face with the three bad guys. He basically tells them that the rig is going to blow in ten minutes and that he needs their help or everyone dies.
Pride tells the men that they were set up. They agree to help him. They better go quick! They only have a few minutes!
Sebastian tells them that they need to activate the blow out preventer. Pride and Hauser climb down a long ladder and activate it. They need to make it back up the ladder right away or they’ll die. Sebastian keeps the two guys up top from closing the hatch and killing Pride and Hauser. The Sargent who has been yelling at him for using his cell phone is watching from around the corner.
The guys manage to stop the oil rig from exploded. Hauser asks, “What now?” Pride tells them that he needs, “to arrest them for the murder of Lieutenant Neilson.” Hauser wants to know how Pride is going to do that, after all he doesn’t have a gun on him anymore.
Bonnie to the rescue! She found Pride’s gun and points it at the three bad guys. Go, Bonnie!
We cut over to Sebastian, who has literally saved Pride, the three bad guys, Bonnie, and the entire oil rig. Aw, the Sargent is proud of Sebastian. He is proud of him. He tells him that he owes him “fifty laps.” Ha ha! Good job, Sebastian!
Gregorio and LaSalle have the owner’s son in an interrogation room. He admits to having holes welded in the rig’s lines. He claims he never wanted anyone to get hurt, he just wanted his momma to be proud of him.
LaSalle tells Gregorio that she did a good job. She tells him that she knows that they have been “butting heads,” but, “today was a huge success.” LaSalle says that, “They were arguing because they both care.” The decide not to tell Pride about them arguing.
Pride makes it back to NCIS HQ and the team is incredibly glad to have him back! Pride tells them that the paperwork can be completed later. They all celebrate the win by going out for drinks.
*******
My Thoughts:
Another awesome episode! Dare I say it, Gregorio is fitting in? I mean, obviously, there will be growing pains, but that’s completely normal with any team gaining a new member. If she would have joined like this in the first place, I doubt there would have been many issues. What do you think?
