2 Broke Girls - And the Emergency Contractor - Review: "A Good Mom Doesn't Marry Her Baby!"

Love is in the air in the most recent episode of 2 Broke Girls as the girls return from their trip and find that their new contractor, Bobby, did an amazing job fixing the dessert bar and more importantly, he and Caroline have an instant connection. Right as the two of them are flirting, however, Max gets a call that Randy is in the hospital. Upon arrival, the girls are kicked out of his room and pose as nurses, where Caroline gets roped into emergency surgery and Max and Randy reunite. During this conversation, Randy asks Max to move with him to LA, but she turns it down because she cares too much about her friends and her business, and they end the relationship for good. In the end, Bobby returns and he and Caroline agree to go on a date. Meanwhile, Sophie joins a mom group and seeks their approval, even though they are terrible mothers. Eventually, Sophie gets tired of their nonsense and stands up to them.
I’m going to say it - I LOVE Caroline and Bobby. It’s been so long since Caroline has had any kind of relationship and I love the spark they have. I think their pairing is off to such a great start partially because of when it is taking place in the series' run. Bobby is a very blue collar, goofy kind of guy, which I think the Caroline Channing of seasons 1, 2, or 3 wouldn’t let herself be attracted to. Season 6 Caroline has evolved a lot more and become her own person separate from her past wealth and I think is ready to be in a relationship with someone like Bobby. Even though she was with Candy Andy, who also wasn’t the most cultured person in the world, Bobby just seems a little more rough around the edges and has the same goofy, nervous energy that Caroline has. Suffice to say, I’m loving this pairing and can’t wait to see how it grows!

Now moving on to the other couple - Max and Randy. To be brutally honest, I was not pleased when Max got in the way of Caroline’s flirting because Randy had an accident. I felt like things ended in a perfect place last week and it was finally Caroline’s turn (after 3 seasons) to get some relationship action. After getting over my initial frustration and finishing the episode, I was glad that Randy and Max had a little more real closure and truly ended their relationship for good. The door is definitely more closed than it was last week, but I think they are both correct that right now they are just not good for each other. Plus, we were able to see Max admit that she has personal and professional roots that she wants to hold on to. For a girl that grew up with a terrible mother and has tons of abandonment issues, that’s huge.

And finally, we have Sophie and Barbara. This was an interesting little storyline because it’s rare to see Sophie in a position where she doesn’t feel like the star and it ended up being pretty funny to watch her say the most ridiculous, horrific things just to impress this awful mothers. Even more than that, it was such a great growth moment for her when she stood up to them later (in classic over the top Sophie fashion, no less). The only problem with this storyline (and the rest of the episode) is that it was paced a little weirdly - the Sophie storyline only had about two scenes and the episode went from being heavily focused on Bobby and Caroline to a dramatic Max and Randy reunion. All in all, still a strong episode.

Overall Grade:
A-. One relationship ended as another began in this important and funny episode, although it was paced a little weirdly.

Favorite Quotes:
Oleg: Thank god you’re back. Besides Han, there hasn’t been a girl in here in days and she’s not my type.
Han: What is your type? Hepatitis A, B, or C?

Caroline: Oh my god, look at the doors and the molding and the sconces! I don’t remember what an orgasm is like, but I think I might be having one!

Randy: Max, what are you doing here? Where’s my shirt? When did Caroline start hosting Wheel of Fortune?
Max: Ha! That’s what I said!

Caroline: Why do you want to hang out with these ladies? They’re mean. One of them tried to trip me!
Sophie: Yeah… that was me.

How did you feel about the beginning of Cabby and the end of Mandy (I hate myself for saying those awful couple names)? Let me know in the comments!
