The Emmy winner has signed on to star in the streaming giant's forthcoming racial crime drama Seven Seconds, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
In the series, which hails from The Killing creator Veena Sud, tensions run high between African American citizens and Caucasian cops in Jersey City, where a teenage African American boy is critically injured by a cop.
King will play Latrice Butler, a devout churchgoer and a proud wife and mother. After her and her family move out of the projects and become first-time home owners, Latrice is shaken to her core when she learns that her 15-year-old son Brenton has been in an incident. Suddenly aware that there's more to Brenton than she and her husband were aware of, Latrice is rocked by the power of her anger at her son's predicament, an anger that will change her life, her relationship with her husband, and more.

Michael Mosley has signed on for a regular role in the 10-episode Netflix crime drama Seven Seconds. Also cast in the series, from The Killing creator Veena Sud and Fox 21 TV Studios, is Patrick Murney (Public Morals).
Mosley will play Joe “Fish” Rinaldi, a seasoned New Jersey detective assigned to work with prosecutor KJ Harper (still to be cast). Murney will portray Gary Wilcox, a cop working with Diangelo (David Lyons), Osorio (Raul Castillo) and newcomer Peter Jablonski (Beau Knapp) on the Narcotics squad in Jersey City.
