Ratings Breakdown:
Two-more hours of “The Voice” led NBC to Monday overnight victory, with a 6.3 rating/10 share in households from 8-10 p.m. But freshman lead-out drama “Timeless” did not benefit, dropping to a distant second-place 3.4/ 6 at 10 p.m. One year earlier, two episodes of failed Eva Longoria sitcom “Telenovela” launched with an average 3.2/ 6 in the Monday 10 p.m. hour.
In season-premiere news, holiday-themed “The Great Light Fight” on ABC returned on a promising note with a 3.6/ 6 in the household overnights at 8-10 p.m. Comparably, this was 12 percent above the 3.2/ 5 for the year-ago season opener. And it led into a 2.2/ 4 for failed recent drama entry “Conviction,” which moves to Sundays at 10 p.m. ET to burn off its remaining episodes.
In the specials department was two-hour “Showtime at the Apollo,” hosted by Steve Harvey on Fox, which scored a modest 2.9/ 5 from 8-10 p.m. CBS, meanwhile, filled the Monday 10 p.m. hour with annual “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” which scored a dominant 4.7/ 8 in the overnights. Comparatively, that built from a repeat of “The Big Bang Theory” (#2: 4.2/ 7 at 9:30 p.m.) by 12 percent.
Elsewhere, freshman Monday 8-9 p.m. CBS comedies “Kevin Can Wait” (#2: 4.7/ 7) and “Man With a Plan” (#2: 4.1/ 6) are looking more positive for a second season each week. The compatibility is certainly positive. But “2 Broke Girls” at 9 p.m. (#3: 3.8/ 6) is just not strong enough to anchor the time period.
The CW capped off the night with two encore telecasts of “Supergirl” at an average 1.0/ 2 from 8-10 p.m.
