Ratings Breakdown:
CBS remained the network to beat in the Tuesday overnights with its line-up of dramas “NCIS” (#1: for the night: 9.3 rating/16 share), freshman “Bull” (#1t: 7.6/12) and “NCIS: New Orleans” (#2: 6.6/12). “Bull,” of course, is a shoo-in for a second season renewal. But NBC is a lock for dominance in adults 18-49 (and all the key young adult demos) care of the fall season-finale of “The Voice,” which scored an ample 7.6/13 in households from 9-11 p.m. Comparably, that was just seven percent below the fall season-ender on the year-ago evening (8.2/13 on 12/15/15), and it was its highest Tuesday overnight rating since Sept. 27 (7.9).
Earlier in the evening on NBC was ”The Voice” clips show at a second-place 5.5/ 9 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m.
On ABC, three of the four sitcoms last night – “The Middle” (#3: 4.4/ 7), “American Housewife” (#3: 3.5/ 6) and “Fresh Off the Boat” (#3: 2.6/ 4) from 8-9:30 p.m. – each received an additional episode order for the season. That brings the trio to 23 in total. But sophomore “The Real O’Neals” is waiting for the proverbial axe to swing at this point with a 2.1/ 3 at 9:30 p.m. (#3).
An encore telecast of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” closed the night for the alphabet net with a mere 1.1/ 2 at 10 p.m. (#3).
Elsewhere, Fox could not compete with its Tuesday line-up of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#4: 1.6/ 3), “New Girl” (#4: 1.3/ 2) and “Scream” (#4: 0.9/ 1). And The CW ducked the competition with encore telecasts of “The Flash” (#5: 0.8/ 1) and “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow” (#5: 0.6/ 1).
