I'm so loving season 3 of Fresh off the Boat! The quality is high, the writing is funny, the execution is amazing and besides that little slip of common sense in the "Citizen Jessica" episode this season is one stellar experience. "WWJD: What would Jessica do?" was directed by Matt Sohn and written by Laura McCreary was a pretty much perfect hour which focused on my two favorite characters, Jessica and Evan.
Constance Wu once again knocked it out of the park, as said in earlier reviews she peaks every time she plays the overbearing mother who can't let go of her son(s). Jessica's attempts to play it cool and be supportive of Evan's desires was truly hilarious, Constance's facial expressions tell more than million words could ever do. Evan eventually going back to Costco with Jessica was an adorable scene and the perfect way to end this episode.
Special kudos to Yeardley Smith (Dharma & Greg) appearing in the guest role of Marie. She is a wonderful comedic actress and I enjoyed her appearing in another of my favorite comedies.
Louis and his overly white teeth and the 5th Dentist puns were quite funny and a nice side story to follow the lead story. Ray Wise was a pure delight and each time the writers exploit his character a bit more it adds up to the show making it even funnier.
Surprisingly I enjoy Emery a lot this season. Forrest Wheeler really grew into the role and is more enjoyable to watch as he delivers the line written for Emery. He and Eddie fighting the frozen cereals and trying to get a win over Jessica's eat everything rule was quite entertaining and another great filler story to the main plot. .
