Fresh off the Boat - The Taming of the Dads - Review: Harvey ate my Orange

Season 3 of FotB keeps delivering strong performances week after week and "The Taming of the Dads" wasn't an exception either. The show really exploits different late 90s stories and delivers a unique Huang twist on it.

Another week, another center stage for Constance Wu's Jessica Huang, that she nailed it isn't a surprise at this point. Putting Jessica into the justice world was a smart and hilarious choice on the writer's side. Jessica's annoyance about not being jury boss was so true to her character and the execution of Jessica's bullying to the top was nothing less than hilarious and perfect. The orange bribe, holding the other jury members "hostage" and messing up with her only boss duty were all hilarious moments that kept a smile on my face throughout the outing.

Meanwhile involving Louis into a bromance of epic Shakespearean proportions served as another strong and funny plotline for this episode. Randall Park is a stand out actor and the weird energy he gives to Louis resonates so well into Louis-centric stories. His interactions with Alisson's dad were really funny and weird at the same time. Louis backing out of their friendship for the benefit of their children's relationship was adorable and the goodbye scene mimicking the Romeo&Juilet feud over which they initially bonded was a really nice touch from the writers.

Eddie came a long way from the rebelious boy we met 2 seasons ago and him even giving a thought about Alisson proves just how much he evolved and how much he cares for her. We know Eddie as the one to enjoy comfort zones, so it wasn't a surprise when he did the same with his relationship with Alisson. Him stepping up so he woudn't loose Alisson was sweet. Looking forward to see where they will take their relationship in further outings.

Still, the funniest story of the episode involved Evan and Emery taking care of a Tamagotchi. As mentioned in previous weeks, I'm really starting to like Emery, not that I hated him but I enjoy stories including his character much more this season. Forrest Wheller is really getting better with each episode. Evan and Emery sharing storylines is always a true delight, they complement each other really well and their struggle to take care of Jerry was truly adorable. I need a gif of Eddie missing the Tamagotchi while asleep, so hilariois. I laughed so hard when the Tamagotchi restarted after the funeral and crept the $hit out of the boys.

Dave: Leo DiCaprio! He's got star power.

Fresh off the Boat is still one of my favorite comedies and I really hope they keep the level of storytelling and hilarious approach to some 90s iconic stories. Next week the Xmas centric episode is up to air and seems like someone will be left "Home Alone". Till the new episode airs feel free to share your thought on the Huangs latest adventures.
