The Walking Dead - Swear - Advance Preview

The Walking Dead “Swear” was written by David Leslie Johnson and was directed by Michael E Satrazemis. Johnson last wrote for the show in season two. This episode finally picks up the story of Tara (Alana Masterson) and Heath (Corey Hawkins). The episode jumps around a bit in time and primarily tells the story from Tara’s point of view. The episode also introduces us to another group of survivors who may be as brutal as Tara’s own group.

We get some great water-logged walker effects as the episode begins on the seashore. We meet yet another child who is decidedly un-childlike.

When we catch up with Tara and Heath, it’s two weeks since the raid on the satellite site. Tara is focused on their mission, particularly on finding ammunition and medicine. Heath is really struggling with what happened in the raid. All they’ve managed to scavenge is 8 rusty cans of okra and a bottle of aspirin. He insists that after one more day they have to go home.

Tara finds a guardian angel. We learn that Tara knows very little about fishing. Tara gives the finger to someone who really, really deserves it. Tara finds the perfect gift for Denise, and Tara receives a gift from a kindred spirit. Tara gets caught in a lie. One of the other great effects in the episode stems from walkers who appear from an unlikely hiding spot.

And that’s about all that I can tease! Here are some dialogue teasers. They are in no particular order – and no hints as to who might be speaking, so see if you can guess!

Nobody’s in this together anymore.
I’m a really good shot.
That’s a pickle alright.
Don’t run.
I hope that was you.
Looks like they had plans for something.
Nobody’s evil. They just decide to forget who they are.
There’s nothing left in this world that isn’t hidden. We just have to find it.
Sooner or later, you’re going to need a friend.
I wanted to see if it was safe.

Don’t forget to tune in to The Walking Dead on AMC on Sunday at 9/8c!
