'And the Rise of Chaos' will kick off The Librarians season 3 with its usual brand of rollicking, adventurous fantasy.
However, the stakes feel a little bit more grand this time around. There will be talk of war and the rise of 'pure evil' in episodes to come - a far cry from the mere agents of evil with devious plans the team fought in the past two seasons.
With more at stake this season, we will see a team member begin to broaden his skills. Cassandra and Flynn will need another soldier on the front line who can hold his own in hand-to-hand combat and we will see the seeds planted for that in this premiere.
If you had been reading the casting news leading up to filming of season 3, then you would know a big name in Vanessa Williams has joined the cast in a recurring role. Her character will make her presence known in this episode and it looks like we will have multiple antagonists confronting The Librarians this season.
The episode did a great job in setting up the next nine episodes. The stakes have truly been risen, but without straying away from the brand of zany fun we've come to expect from this show. And so, like it has been consistently over the past two seasons, this premiere will be forty minutes of pure delightful, entertainment with plenty of intrigue built up to boot.
