With NBC’s Grimm wrapping production soon on its sixth and final season, co-star Russell Hornsby has lined up his next series gig, a regular role in the 10-episode Netflix crime drama Seven Seconds. Also cast in the series, from The Killing creator Veena Sud and Fox 21 TV Studios, are Looking alum Raul Castillo and British actor Zackary Momoh (A United Kingdom).
Written by Sud, Seven Seconds is based on the 2013 Russian action movie The Major (Майор). Tensions run high between African American citizens and Caucasian cops in Jersey City, where a teenage African American boy is critically injured by a cop.
Hornsby will play Isaiah Butler, a devout man who is shaken to his core by Brenton’s incident. Momoh will portray Seth Butler, Isaiah’s brother who comes home from a tour in Afghanistan just in time to support the family. Castillo is Felix Osorio, a cop working on the Narcotics squad in Jersey City.
Hornsby, Castillo & Momoh join previously cast David Lyons and Beau Knapp. Sud executive produces with O’Connor, Lawrence Bender, Kevin Brown and Alex Reznik.
