Early HH Ratings from Marc Berman (programminginsider)
The analysis below is based on the early household numbers and are NOT the same as the numbers that will be posted in the above table later. (See the About section below)
NOTE: The opinions expressed here are NOT those of SpoilerTV but of the Author of this Article, Marc Berman.
-Winners:
“Dancing With the Stars” (ABC), “The Voice” (NBC), “Supergirl” (CW), “2 Broke Girls” (CBS), “Saturday Night Live Election Special” (NBC)
-Modest: “Kevin Can Wait” (CBS), “Man with a Plan” (CBS)
-Losers:
“Gotham” (Fox), “The Odd Couple” (CBS), “Lucifer” (Fox), “Jane the Virgin” (CW), “Conviction” (ABC)
Ratings Breakdown:
NBC topped the Monday household overnights, besting No. 2 ABC by five percent. But NBC’s position in adults 18-49 (and all the key young adult demographics) will certainly be greater thanks to “The Voice.”
ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” topped the night in these household overnights, with a 7.5 rating/11 share from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, however, that was 12 percent below the 8.5/13 on the year-ago evening. And it led into a mere 2.8/ 5 (#3) for newbie drama “Conviction” at 10 p.m., which at this point is just waiting for the proverbial axe to officially swing.
NBC’s “The Voice” (6.4/10 from 8-10 p.m.) was also below average, slipping by 18 percent from the 7.8/12 from the year-ago evening. But the “Saturday Night Live 2016 Election Special” brought the Monday 10 p.m. time period back to life with a 5.7/10. One week earlier, freshman drama “Timeless” scored a 3.4/ 6 in the time period.
Elsewhere, CBS remains on the downside with its combination of 8-10 p.m. sitcoms “Kevin Can Wait” (#3: 4.7/ 7), “Man with a Plan” (#3: 3.9/ 6), “2 Broke Girls” (#3: 3.6/ 5) and “The Odd Couple” (#3: 3.3/ 5) and relocated “Scorpion” (#2: 4.5/ 7) dropping, on average, by 25 percent year to year.
Fox could not compete with its drama pairing of “Gotham” and “Lucifer” from 8-10 p.m., each with a 2.5/ 4 in the household overnights. But the positive for The CW remains “Supergirl” with a 1.8/ 3 at 8 p.m. (#5), which was more than double the 0.8/ 1 for “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” on the year-ago evening (0.8/ 1 on 11/09/15). Lead-out “Jane the Virgin,” however, slipped by 56 percent with a 0.8/ 1 at 9 p.m.
