Pitch - Wear It - Review

5 Nov 2016

This week on Pitch, Ginny took the night off from all of the media attention. At the party in honor of her deal with Nike, Ginny sneaks off with Cara, a waitress. She finally lets loose but footage of her wearing a different brand of sneakers surface. Mike and Amelia break up after he accidentally heard about Ginny having a panic attack, causing Ginny to question Amelia’s loyalty. Mike then shows up at his ex’s house. When Ginny returns the next morning, she finds out that Cara gave Amelia a video of her breaking down because she was worried. Ginny admits that she’s not okay and talks to a therapist. At the end of the episode, we find out that the photos on Trevor’s computer have leaked.

Favorite moment: Kylie did an amazing job as Ginny this week. Everyone has been putting so much pressure on her, it was only a matter of time before it became too much for her. Honestly, I think she handled it pretty well. Yeah, she snuck out at her own party to go play whatever the hell that game is called with total strangers, but it could’ve been a lot worse. I actually didn’t think she put on those sneakers on purpose. I thought she just put on the first pair of shoes she saw. After seeing the video at the end, though, that’s when I realized there might have been another reason. It takes a lot of guts to admit that you’re not okay. That you need help. Especially in an environment that competitive, where showing weakness can cost you everything. There’s no shame in not being okay, there’s no shame in going to see someone who can help you work through your issues. I’m glad both Ginny and the people around her know that.
Ginny also admitted to the therapist that she’s not sure she wants to do this job. There’s no denying that she loves to play baseball, but that’s not what this job is anymore. It’s become this huge media circus where every move she makes is watched and criticized. This isn’t what she signed up for as a kid. She has a lot of stuff to figure out in this department. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of this aspect in future episodes but I’m glad she seemed happier and stronger at the end of the episode.

Favorite pair: First of all, I loved having Lyndsy back on my screen. And I loved her in this role. Cara is exactly what Ginny needed. Ginny doesn’t really have anyone outside of the baseball world. She couldn’t turn to Mike because she didn’t trust him after what happened concerning her panic attack. She couldn’t turn to Amelia because she didn’t think she’d understand. While Amelia and Ginny are close, she’s still also Amelia’s job. She probably could’ve turned to Blip and Evelyn but I think Ginny sometimes feels left out around them. Cara offered her a way out when she needed it and she took it. I’m guessing it had been a long time since Ginny had been able to let loose like that. I really liked the friendship (and potentially more because I was totally shipping it) between Ginny and Cara. When Ginny heard that another video had turned up, she thought she’d been betrayed. But Cara not only got her to her work on time, she cared enough to bring that video to the right people because she knew Ginny needed help. I hope we see her again before the season ends.
Most underrated character: I probably haven’t mentioned Eliot once in any of my reviews but today I will. He finally stood up to Amelia. She’d been taking him for granted all this time, probably hadn’t even thanked him when he quit alongside her to help her. It was kind of funny that he gave her the exact same speech she gave to Ginny.

Favorite character couple: I was going to do a “favorite character” category but Blip and Evelyn were both equally awesome. When Ginny tells them about Mike and Amelia’s relationship, they both gave the exact same response. “Whaaat?!” Please, writers, don’t ever split these two up.

Best quotes: Evelyn: “Uh-oh, what did she do now?” Ginny: “Mike Lawson.” Evelyn: “Whaaat?! Blip figured it out.”
Blip: “Whaaat?!” Evelyn: “She knows we know.”
Amelia: “Have you seen Ginny?” Mike: “Nope, listen…” Amelia: “Nope.”
Amelia: "Not every person you meet is out there to hurt you."
Ginny:” Okay, what else you got?”

That’s it for this week. Check in again next week for an all-new review and let me know in the comments what you thought of this week’s episode.
