MacGyver - Corkscrew - Review

DW MacGyver ReviewsThis week’s episode was fantastic. We see Nikki again, Mac on a date and Bozer finally learns the truth!
The episode started with The Phoenix Foundation finding out there is an international assassin out for his next hit. However, he has never been identified so he is known as suspect 218 so it’s quite hard to figure out who this guy is.
The hit is out for MacGyver himself and possibly put out by Nikki, so Thornton locks him in a room with everything taken out, meaning Mac doesn’t have anything to turn into a gadget to escape…. he does though. Jack is waiting outside knowing Mac will escape. Suspect 218 leaves a clue to where he is going, and it’s not good.
It cuts to Bozers and Mac house, and Suspect 218 being let in by Bozer. He lets Bozer into all of Mac’s secrets. This doesn’t last long before Mac and Jack show up. Bozer is shocked and not because he has nearly been shot, because he best friend has been lying to him. He was the only one who seen his face, he helps The Phoenix Foundation to find the guy via face recognition. As Bozer has quit he job, it would be great to see him work along side the team.
Mac has been left in the office once again while Thornton, Jack, and Riley are at a scrapyard with Suspect 218 aiming remote sniper rifles at them. Suspect 218 calls for Mac to join the knowing he is listening to them. Mac ends up in the scrapyard with them and they start playing cat and mouse until Mac finds a radio to diffuse the signal of the remote snipers. However, he is too late as Thornton has been shot. Luckily in the shoulder. I still don’t understand why she is there and she brings nothing to the group, only when there at the start.
As they are free, Riley uses her computer knowledge to hack the remote and point the snipers at suspect 218, who we find out to be Murdoc!
The episode ends with MacGyver in a small café and Nikki sitting down to have a chat with him. He is surrounded by bystanders, all which are there for Nikki. One thing she said has intrigued me, she asked if he still has the key and that Mac will need it soon. I wonder how long we must wait to know what the key opens? What do you think the key will open?
What I liked about this episode is that it’s one of their own who is a target and they don’t need to go protect or save someone. I loved how Bozer finally got to know what Mac and the team does. I think it needed a little more of Jack in this episode, though.
