Younger - A kiss Is Just a kiss - Review

I was elated when it was announced that we’d be watching season 3 earlier this year especially after that wonderful season 2 finale. Season 3’s opening episode, ‘A Kiss is Just a Kiss’ was by far my favourite episode and couldn’t have been a stronger kick off to what I’m assuming will be a stellar season. Younger is a unique breath of fresh air. Honestly the only complaint I will ever have about this show is that it’s simply not long enough!
Last season we were left with Josh telling Liza that he was “all in” right after Charles kissed her. It shouldn’t be a surprise to say I’ve been anxiously awaiting to see the aftermath of all this. First of all, I should say that I do love Josh. He’s a great guy but I’m definitely on Team Charles. With that being said I must say I loved how Charles was engaging Liza throughout the episode. He wanted to talk with her and figure things out so that maybe they could move forward with some type of personal relationship. He was even wearing the tie she picked out. How cute! However, Liza seems unsure of what she should do. With Josh’s declaration, and Charles being her boss she appeared to be at a loss of what to do. At one point I thought maybe she was leaning more towards a relationship with Charles but unfortunately seeing him at the restaurant with Caitlin’s friends parents had her running for the hills. I wonder what would have happened if they weren't there? Would she have acknowledged their connection? I guess for now we won’t know. Poor Charles though, him thinking that Liza simply didn’t bother going to meet him was so heartbreaking. With him stating it was “just a kiss, let it go” to Liza leaves me wondering how different he’s going to be around her. Is his defence mechanism going to cause some angst between them?

Now that Josh is “all in” and Liza wasn’t able to clear the air with Charles does this mean Josh and Liza are now back together? Their on and off again relationship might give some people whiplash. I love that Josh has decided that he wants to truly be in a real relationship with Liza the 40 year old divorcee but will it work out when Liza’s main focus is work and Caitlin? Not to mention, she did attempt to meet with Charles so there’s clearly some doubt in her mind about her relationship with Josh. I guess time will tell!

The amount of moments that I found myself laughing out loud during this episode was ridiculous. It’s shocking this show doesn’t receive more attention. All of the characters bring something special to the table but I have to say this episode shined a light on how hilarious Diana (Miriam Shor) is. The dynamic between Kelsey (Hilary Duff), Liza (Sutton Foster), and Diana is always wonderfully entertaining but the moments in her apartment were absolutely comical. When Diana chimes into a conversation you can’t help but love the crazy that she is. And I mean crazy in the best way possible. Talking about crazy, the meeting with Kiko Kagami, I can’t believe that Liza actually ate the paper in order to hide what she wrote. Again this show has no shortage of hilarious moments.

It’s safe to say this season of Younger will have Liza’s secret consistently at the surface of being exposed. With Kelsey and Thad trying to close Chad’s social media account and get into his computer it’s possible her secret is going to be discovered sooner then later. What would Kelsey do if she found out about Liza? I can not imagine it being something that Kelsey could easily forgive. I have to admit I’m most excited to see what Charles reaction would be to the news. Who do you think would have the strongest reaction to Liza’s secret? I loved this episode of Younger and I’m confident this season is going to be their best yet!
