-Ratings Breakdown:
Baseball was the bigger option in the battle of the sports match-ups on Fox and NBC, with game five of “The World Series” (Cubs 3, Indians 2) at an estimated 15.3 rating/23 share in the household overnights from 8-11:45 p.m. ET. Comparably, this was 31 percent above the year-ago game five “World Series” match-up between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets. And it beat competing “Sunday Night Football” on NBC (Cowboys 29, Eagles 23: 11.6/16 from 8:30 p.m.-12 a.m. ET) by an estimated 32 percent.
Earlier in the evening on Fox was a primetime football overrun at a 15.3/26 in the 7 p.m. half-hour into a 10.1/17 for post-game “The OT” at a 10.1/17 at 7:30 p.m. As a reminder, results for any live sporting evening are always estimated.
Opposite baseball and football, CBS’ older-skewing line-up held up relatively well, with granddaddy “60 Minutes” at a 7.6/12 in the 7 p.m. hour (#2), followed by relocated “NCIS: Los Angeles” (#3: 6.4/10 at 8 p.m.), “Madam Secretary” (#3: 5.6/ 8 at 9 p.m.) and relocated “Elementary” (#3: 3.4/ 6 at 10 p.m.), which slipped by 38 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of “Madam Secretary” and really needs to end this season. But ABC barely registered care of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (#3: 2.8/ 5), “Once Upon a Time” (#4: 2.0/ 3), “Secrets and Lies” (#4: 2.0/ 3) and “Quantico” (#4: 1.9/ 3). Obviously, the alphabet net needs to do a total revamp on this evening.
