Ratings Breakdown:
It was another easy overnight Sunday victory for NBC care of the Indianapolis Colts at the Houston Texans on “Sunday Football,” which averaged an estimated 11.5 rating/19 share from 8:30-11:30 p.m. ET. As a reminder, results for any live sporting event are always approximate.
CBS also benefited by football, with a primetime overrun leading the 7 p.m. half-hour with a hefty 14.6/25. The Eye net’s regularly scheduled Sunday night line-up is estimated due to football, of course, and it appears as follows:
CBS Sunday
7:30 p.m. – “60 Minutes”: 11.1/18 (#1)
8:30 p.m. – “NCIS: Los Angeles”: 7.6/11 (#2)
9:30 p.m. – “Madam Secretary”: 6.4/10 (#2)
10:30 p.m. – “Elementary”: 4.2/ 8 (#2)
Outside of NBC and CBS, there was little of note, with both ABC and Fox in need of a complete overhaul. An encore telecast of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” on ABC opened with a 2.7/ 4 from 7-8 p.m., which was the highest rated program on the alphabet net last night. Next was tired “Once Upon a Time” at a 2.3/ 4 at 8 p.m. (#3), which really needs to conclude this season, followed by sophomore dramas “Secrets and Lies” (#3: 2.1/ 3) and “Quantico” (#3: 2.0/ 4) from 9-11 p.m. Resting “Secrets and Lies” for one full season was, no doubt, not of benefit to ABC.
A repeat of “The Simpsons” on Fox, which included partial football in the average, opened with a 3.3/ 6 at 7 p.m., followed by “Bob’s Burgers” at a 2.7/ 4 (#4) at 7:30 p.m. Next was an original installment of “The Simpsons” (#4: 2.1/ 3 at 8 p.m.), which hit the 600 episode mark last week, followed by recently introduced “Son of Zorn” (#4: 1.4/ 2), veteran “Family Guy” (#4: 1.6/ 2) and “The Last Man on Earth” (#4: 1.4/ 2) from 8:30-10 p.m. Both ABC and Fox at this point are sinking to historical lows on the evening.
