We start the show with more awesome music. I really need to get to NOLA.
Uh oh! A man and a woman, who look like they might be a couple, are fighting about cell phone usage. She’s annoyed he’s playing a game while they are out and listening to some awesome music. I think I’d be pretty annoyed too!
A woman with an accent interrupts the man and the woman claiming that her husband is hurt. She says he was attacked. The couple springs into action! The woman calls 911 while the man runs over to the victim. Eek, this did not go as planned! The alleged victim is actually a bad guy with a Taser. He waits
The woman calls 911 while the man runs after the woman. Eek, this did not go as planned! The alleged victim is really a bad guy and waits until the man gets close enough to light up with a Taser. Not good! Once he hits the ground, the man and the woman with the accent pick his body up and throw it into the back of a large van.
“Boom, boom, boom, boom! Bang, bang, bang, bang!” This music is just the best!
We cut over to Sebastian gamming online. He’s playing a virtual reality game with some online friends. The goal? To break out of an unbreakable room. Sebastian is the team’s decryption specialist.
Sebastian as to sign off to answer the door. His mom, who calls him, “Peaches,” is here for a visit. Aw, he calls her, “Cream.” That’s sweet. Instead of being happy to see Sebastian, she instantly comments on his weight, he’s too skinny, his pale appearance, etc. Poor, Peaches!
Looks like Gregorio is making an effort to be part of the team. She’s not in her usual FBI gear. LaSalle gives her a hard time and she dishes it right back. She’s no Brody, but I do have hope for her joining the team.
No Percy this week? Her stepfather is sick and her mother needs help. Hmmm…
King, LaSalle, and Gregorio check out a body. The body belongs to the Lt. Michael Reed, Naval Flight Officer. He was the one that was grabbed the night before. They dumped his body in an empty lot that has been vacant since Katrina.
Looks like a kidnapping. There is a BOLO out with a sketch of the man and the woman who kidnapped Lt. Reed.
Poor guy, he was tortured before being killed. Looks like the bad guys wanted info, but what info were they trying to get? Classified info from the navy?
Uh oh! Lt. Reed called Sebastian three times the night before!
Sebastian takes his mother out to breakfast. Eek! She treats Sebastian like he’s a little kid and she doesn’t like his choice in females, specifically their waitress at the restaurant.
Sebastian gets a call from Pride. NO! The woman with the accent is back! Pride tries to stop Sebastian from following her, but it’s too late! She tricks Sebastian into following her around the corner with the same, “my husband is hurt,” line! Sebastian falls for it hook, line, and sinker.
What do they want with Sebastian?
Pride and LaSalle get to scene where Sebastian was taken. His mother is a mess. Poor woman!
They call Sebastian’s phone. Bad news, it’s on the ground and there’s blood on it.
LaSalle and Pride regroup at HQ. Patton is freaking out. Gregorio has good news. The FBI tracked down the van used to kidnap Lt. Reed. Bad news? The van was dumped and burned. No evidence.
The team need to figure out how Lt. Reed and Sebastian are connected. I wonder if they were connected from that game Sebastian was playing in the beginning?
Patton can’t believe LaSalle has never been to Sebastian’s apartment. Makes you wonder, how much do you really know about your coworkers?
Gregorio has an idea. She thinks the FBI’s new tracking program can help figure out what happened with the burned out van. Let’s hope she’s right.
Eek! Sebastian and another man are tied up in an abandon warehouse. The other guy is wearing some kind of uniform. He looks like a police officer or a prison guard. Why do they have him? Did we know he was missing?
Sebastian wakes up and looks like a scared little bunny. Poor, Peaches!
My suspicions were right! The guy is a guard for the Department of Corrections. This isn’t looking good!
The woman with the accent, the man who pretended to be hurt, and another guy enter the warehouse. They look like a scary bunch. The main bad guy holds a gun on Sebastian and tells him that he is going to help them or he’ll end up dead like Lt. Reed. Be careful, Peaches!
WOW! I was not expecting them to shoot the prison guard! Especially not that quickly! Talk about ripping off the Band-Aid without any warning!
Peaches freaks out. Me too.
They clean Sebastian up and take his picture. What exactly are they planning? They warn him that they know all about him. They show him pictures of Loretta, they talk about her two adopted sons (finally, they’re mentioned again), and they show Sebastian a picture of his mother. Not good!
So what do they want? They want Sebastian to help them break someone out of prison. What the heck?
Gregorio is running her FBI super vehicle stalking software and finds out where the van had been over the last 24 hours. Turns out Gregorio is breaking the rules. She didn’t even ask Eisner for permission to use the software! Naughty naughty!
LaSalle and Patton are at Sebastian’s apartment. It’s clear LaSalle doesn’t really know much about Sebastian on a personal level. Sebastian on the other hand has started following college football, the University of Alabama, to be specific, just to have something to bond over with LaSalle. Aw! LaSalle better step up his friendship game once Sebastian is back safe and sound!
Patton breaks in to Sebastian’s computer. He finds the virtual reality escape room game Sebastian was playing. Turns out the NSA, CIA, etc. are always watching over the game too. Sebastian is ranked number two in the state and guess who was number one? Lt. Reed.
So the bad guys are going to use Sebastian’s skills to help break someone out of prison? This could get dangerous, like in real life!
Gregorio and Pride find the warehouse where they were holding Sebastian. They find a dead body that has been badly burned. The body has a wedding ring on, Pride doesn’t think it’s Sebastian. Phew!
We cut back over to the main bad guy and Sebastian. They are signing in on a prison floor and dressed as guards. The bad guy tells Sebastian that he has broken out of situations much more difficult than this in his virtual reality game. He also reminds Sebastian that they will kill his mother if he refuses to help.
The team is back at HQ. They are trying to find other players of the virtual reality game in the area. Patton is hard at work.
Sebastian’s mom comes to HQ. She wants to know where her son is and what happened to him. She’s freaking out. Pride does a good job reassuring her that Sebastian is a resourceful and very smart young man.
Back at the prison, the bad guy is leading Sebastian through a sea of prisoners. I’m confused, has this bad guy always been a prisoner? Aren’t any of the other guards like, “Who the heck are you?” Am I missing something? Not going to lie, I’ve been pretty sick the majority of this month and there’s a good chance I’m missing the obvious right now.
The bad guy takes Sebastian to a control room in the prison. Where is everyone else? How are they in there by themselves? I’m a bit confused.
Sebastian agrees to help, as long as no one else gets hurt. Ooh! They just radioed the other guard, Novak. So, perhaps he has always worked at the prison and somehow got roped into helping a prisoner escape?
Loretta figured out the identity of the burned body. It belonged to Henry Perotti. That is who Sebastian is impersonating right now. I hope the team puts two and two together quickly!
Pride thinks something might be happening at the prison. He calls his friend, who’s the warden at the prison. He tells his friend that he found the body of one of his new guards. But guess what? Perotti has already checked in at work for the day. King knows what’s up!
King gets an unknown call. Guess what it is? Sebastian! YAY! He found a back door to the prison’s internet and he called Pride. He told Pride that he needs to break someone out of prison or the bad guys will kill him. He also tells Pride that he needs him waiting outside of the prison. Hmmm… I wonder what Sebastian has planned?
Commercial break. So, there’s a car dealership in the area that has a commercial with a dog wearing a tie. That’s just adorable. It also makes me want to put a tie on our sweet dog, Rooney. Maybe for Halloween? Okay, back to the program!
Loretta is worrying in the morgue. Sebastian’s mom is waiting there as well. She wanted to see where her son works. Aw, Loretta and Sebastian’s mom have a moment. They hug and it’s real sweet.
Sebastian’s mom is worried about her son. She never pictured him working in law enforcement and she’s worried he’s all alone right now. Loretta reassures her that Sebastian is not alone. The whole team is behind him.
Pride, Patton, LaSalle, and Gregorio are trying to figure out their next move. They are respecting Sebastian’s wishes by staying away from the inside of the prison. They need to figure out who he is trying to help break out.
Well, that didn’t take very long! Patton figures it out, because Patton! He thinks they are breaking out Goran Bogdan a.k.a. “Bogdan the Butcher.” Um, that’s terrifying. He’s from Serbia and is an active member of a very dangerous crime scene. He’s an international smuggler. Patton also found that the people who kidnapped Sebastian are in Bogdan’s syndicate, Natasha Divac and Steven Yellick (sp?). He matched their mug shots with the sketches completed by Lt. Reed’s wife. Taking it a step further, they are also Serbian, are wanted criminals, and they have profiles on the Escape Room virtual reality game that Sebastian and Lt. Reed played together.
So, Natasha and Steven were looking for top players to help break out Bogdan the Butcher. That’s how the settled on Lt. Reed and Sebastian.
Oh snap! Gregorio figures out who Sebastian was talking about. She pulls up a picture of the main bad guy, who is conveniently a prison guard Novak at the prison holding Bogdan the Butcher. I think they need to screen the prison guards a bit better before allowing them to work at that prison.
Gregorio wants to call the warden and get the prison shut down. Pride tells her that’s not going to happen. He tells her she can stay behind. Gregorio puts on her big girl NCIS: New Orleans pants and decides to join the team. She’s kind of a butthead about it though…
Novak is getting rough with Sebastian. Sebastian is trying to figure out how he’s going to break out The Butcher. He tells Novak he needs “an emergency” in order to make it happen.
Sebastian is leaving clues for Patton to trace his hacking tracks.
Novak starts a fire in the kitchen. There’s the distraction/emergency Sebastian said he needed.
Sebastian manages to pull off the hack and they get The Butcher out of his cell.
Patton figures out where Sebastian is going to come out of the prison. The team heads over and spots Natasha and Steven, who are waiting outside for Sebastian, Novak, and The Butcher.
Uh oh, there’s an issue. Prison security patrol pull up to see what Natasha and Steven are doing. This isn’t going to turn out well.
Natasha and Steven break out machine guns that shoot about nine billion rounds per minute. They shoot at the prison security patrol as well as the team.
Sebastian is almost in the clear, but just before the team can bring him in, he does something truly heroic and perhaps a bit crazy! He jumps into the back of the getaway pick-up truck with the iPad he used to break out The Butcher out of prison.
I hope Patton is still able to track Sebastian! EEK!
We’re back from commercial and Patton is able to track Sebastian. Patton is the best.
Gregorio says that Sebastian could have just thrown the tablet in the back of the truck instead of himself plus the tablet. Not going to lie, I was thinking the same thing, Gregorio!
Uh oh… The battery on the tablet died and King is at a literal fork in the road. He doesn’t know which way to go.
The bad guys don’t know that Sebastian is in the truck. After they leave the truck, he sneaks out. He is about to leave when he turns back and starts looking at the supplies in the truck. He pulls out flares, gasoline, and a rag. Well, dang, Sebastian! He lights the gas soaked rag on fire and sticks it in the gas tank of the truck.
The truck blows before he can get too far away. The team figures out where Sebastian due to the explosion and heads his way. LaSalle and Gregorio take down Natasha and The Butcher.
Uh oh! Novak is chasing Sebastian with a gun! RUN, SEBASTIAN, RUN!
Pride takes off after Sebastian and Novak.
Sebastian trips and falls. Novak is right on his heels!
Pride hears gunshots. Sebastian are you okay?
Phew! He’s okay! Sebastian is holding a big stick and Novak is laying on the ground with a massive cut on his head.
Pride tells Sebastian that it’s over and that he’s got him. Aw, Pride is proud of Sebastian. They hug it out.
The team bring Sebastian back to HQ. He’s pretty proud of himself, in a cute way!
Sebastian’s mom comes running in wraps her “Peaches” in a big hug. I have a feeling LaSalle will call Sebastian by his sweet little nickname from this point forward, what about you?
Peaches and his mom are back at the restaurant they were at when he was kidnapped in the beginning of the episode. Sebastian’s mom wants him to enroll in a safety class. That’s adorable. Aw! Get it, Sebastian! He orders steak and eggs for breakfast with a side of the waitress’ phone number! She grins. Peaches for the WIN!
*******
My Thoughts:
Overall, a good episode! I really liked getting to know Sebastian better throughout this episode. He’s really an important asset to the team and there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye. I wonder if he and LaSalle will become closer friends after this episode? What do you think? I’m glad Gregorio fell in line at the end of the episode. Her tendency to want to follow strict FBI protocol isn’t going to work in NOLA and I think with each episode that passes, she’s starting to get it.
Also, quick note on a personal level. I’m sorry for the delayed reviews this week and last week. After nineteen days of not feeling well, I finally went to the doctor. When he asked me just how long I had been sick and I admitted the number, he practically shouted, “NINETEEN DAYS? YOU’RE AS BAD (i.e., stubborn) AS A MAN!” Any who, after discovering that I had a sinus infection, he gave me a shot of steroids, antibiotics, and sent me on my way. Little did he know, on my way meant back to work. But so is life, right? So, it’s officially the weekend and I am playing catch up on all of my reviews and I have a SUPER amazing interview with Deran Sarafian, the executive producer and director of Rosewood, to share with you all on here too!
Okay, on to the next one!
