MacGyver - Toothpick - Review

‘Toothpick’ has to be my favorite episode of MacGyver yet.

The episode starts with Mac and Jack camping out at Nikki’s apartment in Portugal, only to find that she left a key for Mac. I am wanting to know where she is and I hope we don’t have to wait until the end of the season to find this out!

In this episode, we saw the team on a train protecting Katarina who is testifying against her boss and has someone waiting to kill her at Frankfurt. I loved how the whole episode was within a confined space and showed MacGyvers skills off. Another thing that I liked was that we see some of Mac’s emotions when he was with Katarina. It wasn’t the best story for it but we haven’t seen that many emotions from him yet.

While the team is on the train with Katarina, Thornton is busting into the bosses private meeting to threaten him. She then ends up in Frankfurt train station to seek out the killer. However, it ends up in a shootout between her and a cleaner.
On the train, the team is trying to hide Katarina from 8 men that have been dropped into the train. They leave her in the bathroom with a makeshift taser (from a shaver!) and Riley watching out for her. I would like to see more of Jack and Riley interacting in the upcoming episodes and seeing their friendship grow.

The 3 of the 8 men left to leave in the helicopter but before removing the safeguard so the train crashes. After moving everyone into the last few carriages, Mac cuts through the steel with magnesium and some other science things, Jack joins him on the other side before the train gets cut in two. The train continues to speed to Frankfurt while Mac is under the train swapping wires around to make sure the wheels go the other way, essentially making the train break so it doesn’t kill 100’s of people.
It ends with MacGyver trying to figure out what the key is for in Nikki’s apartment. Ending up not finding what it is for, he puts it around his neck with string.

I love the way this season is going now however, I still want them to do something with Bozer, I loved him at the start but now he is annoying and they could use his screen time for something better.
