ABC has teamed with Black-ish co-executive producer Courtney Lilly for another single-camera comedy exploring what it means to be an African American man in today’s society. The project, titled Joe 2.0, comes from Lilly, director Tim Story, Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and ABC Studios.
Written by Lilly, Joe 2.0, now in development, is a single-camera comedy where iconic pop culture moments are used to punctuate the everyday moments in the life of a recently divorced high school teacher. Lilly and Story executive produce with Kaplan and Dana Honor.
Joe 2.0 marks the latest collaboration between Kaplan and Story who go back to Kaplan’s days as an agent when Story was his client. Story previous directed and executive produced Kapital’s Nicki Minaj pilot at Freeform and the CBS pilot What Goes Around Comes Around.
