Promo & Post Mortem Interview
The surprising hookup comes as Murder reveals much more information about the dynamic between Frank, Bonnie, and Annalise (Viola Davis) — this week’s flashbacks showed that Frank was rescued from prison years prior by Sam (Tom Verica) and Annalise. “Pete has done such an amazing job the last couple episodes trickling in these bread crumbs of Bonnie’s past and insights into how she operates,” Weil says. “It certainly comes to a crescendo in Coalport. There’s so much information on all of that stuff with Frank. The death of Bonnie’s father, though a relief, is still a huge loss to her. It triggers this need to belong to something and someone, and to restore that threesome to its former glory.”
“But there’s a desire to hit this hard reset button, and that informs the fantasy of them running away together,” Weil continues. “When Frank abandons her there — Bonnie has overcome so much to feel like she deserves friendship and companionship; it’s taken a real effort to tether herself to her current life. Once Frank leaves her there, it certainly makes all of those destructive feelings that she’s been fighting against for so long bubble to the surface. Moving forward, there’s definitely going to be a shift in how she views him. It’s a pretty devastating move on his part.”
