In a very competitive situation, ABC has landed a half-hour comedy from writer-comedian Morgan Murphy (2 Broke Girls), director-producer Tim Story (Barbershop, Think Like a Man & Ride Along franchises) and 3 Arts Entertainment. The project, which has received a put pilot commitment, is being produced by ABC Studios.
Written by Murphy, the untitled comedy centers on two brothers who, after their mother dies, return to their gentrified Los Angeles neighborhood and find themselves re-defining family and community with their eclectic friends and neighbors.
Murphy executive produces with Story and 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg and Avi Gilbert. The format of the project — single-camera or multi-camera — is still TBD. If it ends up being singe-camera, Story will likely direct.
