Ash vs Evil Dead - DUI - Review: "Could things get any worse?"

This week’s episode was a straight up fight on both storylines, and I must confess that I didn’t like it as much as I have the other episodes in this season.

Ash is still in shock over what just happened to his father. He tries to prep Brock for the funeral home by attempting to put his head back together; an impossible task because The Delta still has one of Brock’s eyeballs.

When The Delta returns, Pablo’s first thought is that Ash’s initial plan worked. In case you missed it last week, his plan was to stay in one place and wait for the Necronomicon to find him. Since the book was in The Delta, he’d kill two birds with one stone. And, it does work. The Delta reappears. Unfortunately, the possessed vehicle takes Pablo.

Ash seems a little more devastated by this than the fact that The Delta has Pablo. Ash calls Chet and off they go to rescue Pablo. Through sheer luck (and a lifelong knowledge of the layout of the town), Ash knows where The Delta is headed.

Pablo has a vision in which The Delta crashes, leaving him impaled on a pole. Ash puts him in The Delta’s trunk to ‘rest’. Turns out this vision is part of why Pablo is willing to trust the word of the Necronomicon.

Ash stabs The Delta causing it to stop and unlock the doors. Pablo is about to follow Lacey in a mad dash to safety when The Book knocks Pablo out the other door. The Book offers an alternative solution to this situation, an alternative that will allow Pablo and Ash to live.

The Book wants Pablo to send it to its original dimension. The Book gives Pablo its word…in the form of a word written on a piece of paper. Pablo reads it aloud. (He should know better!) I’m positive that I am not the only viewer aware that that’s not going to end well. Just before final credits, the viewers are proven right.

Meanwhile, the ladies go hunting. Kelly, as usual, calls Ruby on her prevarication and demands to be told what she’s hiding. Ruby swears that she’s not hiding anything, she’s just afraid that, with his powers of persuasion, if he is brought into this world she won’t be strong enough to fight him. At least she’s strong enough to battle her spawn. Between Ruby and Kelly the Demon Spawn are taken out.

It all sets us up for the arrival of Baal. That’s a good thing, but I really missed the character stories they’ve been doing this season. I'm really glad Lacey escaped The Delta. I still get to find out if my theory that she's Ash's daughter is a possibility.

What did you guys think about the episode?
