We've just passed a Major Milestone! - Thank You All!
3 Sept 2016
SpoilerTV ArticleAbout 30 minutes ago, we passed a little landmark here at SpoilerTV. We've just had our half a billionth page view. Yes, that's 500,000,000 pageviews. I'm still trying to get my head around that number.
I just wanted to thank everyone involved in the site. From our great team of contributors who post the news/photos/videos as fast as it happens, to our wonderful team of reviewers and writers, to the people who submit scoop to us, and to you, the readers/commentators, who visit/comment on the site each day and who make the site such a fun place to work.
Below is a little piece I wrote when we reached the 100 Million mark back in 2010. The same sentiments that applied below apply today now more than ever.
Let's see how quickly we can make it to 1 Billion Pageviews!
When I first started SpoilerTV back in Feb 2007 I had no idea if it would work or if people would want such a site. (About SpoilerTV)
Looking backing nearly 4 years later and having just passed our 90th Million page hit, I could never have dreamt just how popular SpoilerTV would become.
However, the most pleasing thing, and the one that makes me the most proud looking at SpoilerTV today, is that of the community we have built up here in the comments.
We may not be able to compete with the "big boys" like E!Online, EW or TV Guide in terms of mainstream recognition or the number of people who visit those sites each day, but what we do have IMHO is, bar none, the best community of readers, contributors and commentators.
Our readers, contributors and commentators are by far the most knowledgeable, respectful and helpful that I've come across on any TV related site.
With all that in mind however, like any site, we want to continue to grow, improve and expand ourselves to help us get more people visiting, more people joining the community and more mainstream recognition. Getting all of these will help us get more access into the mainstream Broadcast and Cable networks, which in turn give us more access to press material, cast interviews, advance previews etc etc that we can then share with you.
In order to do that, we need YOUR help.
I know it may seem like a little thing to most of you and you may not realize the significance but those little Twitter, Facebook and other social media icons really do make a difference.
Everytime you click the Facebook like button on an article or ReTweet some of our content or share an article to Reddit/Pinterest/Tumblr etc, that info might be seen by one of your friends who may not have been previously aware of SpoilerTV. They in turn might start following us and telling their friends etc. So you can see how this little act can turn into a big trickle of new people to the site.
They are like the fuel that keeps the site turning over.
So next time you see the Facebook like or Twitter button, please take a couple of seconds to give them a click. It helps us help you and will ensure that we can grow and make the site bigger and better.
Thanks for listening. Now get back to work ;)
